HELP! Drying and grinding medicinal mushrooms into powder

Hey there,
I'm new to growing and foraging medicinal mushrooms and I am interested in growing some to dry and grind into powder to use as a supplement - at this stage I have tried turkey tail and lions mane but am really struggling to get a viable/usable powder. Turkey Tail is ROCK HARD after dehydrating and always has large, hard pieces in it that I can't grind no matter how hard I try. Add to that, the powder itself is fluffy and not at all dissolvable in coffee - you just end up with a mouth full of rehydrated fluff....
I have similar results with dried lions mane, although to a lesser degree - but there are also hard pieces that I can't grind and the rest of the powder is relatively chunky and certainly doesn't dissolve in coffee.
The coffee grinder I'm using is a decent one and works with other foods.
Any ideas? Has anyone tried or done this before? Freeze drying maybe?! Does anyone know how the commercial companies do it?
Thanks!

Better suited for gourmet discussion, but there is no way you'll get the mushrooms to such a fine particulate that they dissolve.
You are better off making a double extraction tincture by soaking in ethanol, straining, then doing a decoction on the strained solids for a couple hours and combining the 2 to form a tincture of 25% alcohol. Lots of writeups online for good tinctures.
You could also just make a tea and freeze the tea into ice cubes then just use an ice cube as a dose, but you wont get as much of the beneficials out without the ethanol soak

Tincture ? That piqued my interest haha. Pretty sure I’m going to pulverize all of my dried cubes into powder so learning this tek will be helpful. I’ll have to do some searchin’

What about a 00 capsule filler. You can order one from Amazon for about $20 and 1000 capsules for $15 then you can fill them and not worry about trying to dissolve in your coffee.

What I said above is for medicinal mushrooms.
If you want to make cube extracts, stick with tea

Just bear through the slightly gritty coffee if possible, swirl/stir often. Technique to overcome.
You need a better blender to grind the tough parts it sounds like. Nice commercial qwuality blender should work those turkey tails over.. Coffee grinder aint nothing compared to a blender.

Thanks everyone - I have considered tinctures and will certainly give that a go - but prefer powders as they are more likely to get used with my routine.
I'm still intrigued as to how commercial companies get such a fine power. I wonder if they extract and then freeze dry and powder? Maybe that's how it works.
In the meantime I'll see if a better grinder helps somewhat.
Cheers.

I was so interested to read your question as I was about to ask exactly the same thing! I just BOUGHT a grinder especially to grind my dried turnkey tails and all I've got is lots of fluff! So my question to you is what did you do in the end?!

You need to make a ball mill with stainless steel balls. A ball mill will make a very fine powder. They use ball mills to grind up aluminum cans to make explosives. You can grind it down to the particle size of cigarette smoke which is like 3 microns.
