Don't think so.

Edit... just checked, and they are.

Pretty much, but there are some that are a combo of pressure cooker, slow cooker and air fryer. I have the basic one and it's good for cooking frozen meat without having to thaw it first

I will make my own yogurt in my instant pot in my yurt. There will be a smokeyurt in back full of ham and bacon.

Seriously make yogurt in your instant pot. Epic.

That's cool, but peameal bacon is pork loin. Ham is an entirely different cut of meat. Maybe this diagram will help.

What do you use for pulled pork?

pulled pork is shoulder, I made it a few months ago in my instant pot, I used d'italiano buns

What happened to good old 4-6 hours smoking in a charcoal smoker?

Instant pot is computer controlled and has a pressure sensor, so it works like a stopcock type sterilizer and doesn't vent steam. It keeps all the flavors in and also allows you to cook with very little added liquid. I can cook a roast for 3 hours with less than a cup of water in my 8 quart instant pot.

They're the best invention since the yurt.

More to the point though, Canadans don't have access to charcoal due to their lack of trees and other natural resources.

This apparently is what passes for "Canadian bacon" in the US.

Actual peameal bacon:

I mean I get it, you are confusing your shitty product with the real deal because it's labeled as "Canadian" and that's all you know. The ham-like product should be called American bacon so that people are aware of its true origins.

they are advertised as a 7 in 1 device, but they are really only good for pressure cooking, the slow cooker function sucks compared to a crock pot because the insert is stainless steel instead of ceramic, and it only heats from the bottom instead of all sides, so the bottom cooks and the top stays raw, its kinda dangerous IMO if you dont know how much it sux and try to use it

the only other function I use on mine other then PC is the yogourt function, you can make awesome yogurt in like 8 hours, but it sucks too, cause the yogourt boil function only brings it up to like 140 f, and you need to bring the milk up to 180 f, so I do it by putting it on saute and bring the milk to temp that way

so did I before I bought one, a very common mistake, everyday someone on r/instantpot calls it a instapot, but its really instant pot

It finally makes sense. Canada is like the B-side of North America, so the Canadian designation is to alert savvy American consumers to the inferiority of the ham product. It could rightly be called "Good enough for Canadians to think of as bacon"

Next you're going to be trying to tell me poutine isn't really your fault either.

Gopher you're right about the boil function - I always use a meat thermometer to check after the boil ends that it is at least over 160f. I have no idea how many degrees Canadian that would be. If I use less than 1/2 gallon of milk, it never has a problem, but I've had to go back and boil it 4 or 5 times to make a whole gallon.

Serious? No way. There are pines. But wait, you need hardwoods for charcoals. But those bbq briquettes are just sand and petroleum products right? They have lots of oil in Canada.

bacon (n.)
early 14c., "meat from the back and sides of a hog" (originally either fresh or cured, but especially cured), from Old French bacon, from Proto-Germanic *bakkon "back meat" (source also of Old High German bahho, Old Dutch baken "bacon").

Yes, but it is all in the form of poutine, which creates a very bitter aftertaste when used to smoke ham.

Yeah it definitely is not a seamless general substitute for normal bacon, they are two different foods. For example, if you were to use peameal bacon in a BLT instead of normal bacon, it would be a good sandwich in its own way, but a different one than a normal BLT.
