Habitat: Where does it grow? pasture, ACT, Canberra, Australia, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Cow dung.
Gills: In pic all the same.
Stem: Thin, most stems seem to bruise.
Cap: In pics
Spore print color: Very important! Brownish
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, bluing?
Other information: All growing on the same piece of dung.
Have a good one!

Well My Friend, After Some Further Investigation It Looks Like Psilocybe Cubensis Doesn't Accur Wildy In Your Area, Forgive Me I'm Not Too Familiar With Your Part Of The World.
These Are The Actives That Occur Wildy Where You Live Australian Capital Territory Gymnopilus sp. Panaeolus cinctulus Psilocybe subaeruginosa
You Might Try Visiting NSW, Northern Territory, Or Queensland If You Want P. Cubensis, Good Luck

(An Aussie perspective for you MpSeph:)
You're in a bit of a bad time to be hunting at the moment -- the season for subs is finished, and it's still too cold to look for cubes.
I don't think I've ever heard of cubes growing in the ACT -- the temperature swings too much or something? Try mid-north coastal NSW and SE QLD during the spring... That would be your closest option but is a hell of a drive for a hunt.
Unfortunately I think your best bet is to wait for next autumn for the subaeruginosa season to start back up.

Yeah a few friends have found cubes around the ACT and quite a few are found in the Brindabella area. It was the first time I have tried shrooms and they were great! I think they were picked around 6 weeks ago though and havenāt heard of much since. They are around although the only things I keep on finding are gyms although I havenāt had an active hunt for a while now. Great! Thanks for the info and I frequent Newcastle fortnightly and found some mower mushrooms up there.

That's crazy, I had no idea cubes could grow in near freezing night temperatures. Are you sure they weren't subs? Would make a lot more sense.
If that's true then that's very interesting... I had no idea cubes could grow like that.

I Agree Those Look Like Psilocybe Subaeruginosa, I Couldn't See Any Bluish Bruising In The Original Pics
Edit: I Just Realized These Aren't The Same Shrooms, Excuse My Stonedness

Ahhhhh! Well that makes perfect sense then! They didnāt tell me what it was growing in and I basically took their word for it after I seen the bluing and they had ingested them. Another friend sent me a pic of another which she said was a cube and there was dung hanging off the bottom of the stem. Iāll see if I can find that pic too and let me know what you guys think š

Psilocybe Cubensis Has A Partial Veil, Psilocybe Subaeruginosa Does Not

Ok so I have sourced the other pics from a friend. They both look like the same type of shroom although one growing in tanbark and the other in poop. Although Iām not sure if there is some sort of wood substrate at the bottom of the poop pic where I can clearly see a shroom growing out of?!? This will definitely put a few myths aside. Although if I come across any other pics which people suspect are cubes around the ACT area Iāll definitely post! Thanks guys

Actually I think that looks like dog shit

Yeah those are 100% subs and like you said I think they are growing out of wood in/under the poop

Can subs just grow on mycelium alone?

That's kind of an odd question to me, like "can an apple grow on a tree alone?".
Sure, I guess it could, but the tree still needs nutrients and water from somewhere. Just like mycelium needs nutrients and water from something, which it usually pulls from it's substrate.
For subs, usually that's just wood and maybe some soil. It's odd to me to see them coming out of poop like that... Anyone got an explanation? Is there enough wood-like stuff in the poo for it to still support subaeruginosa?

Well when you put it that way yes definitely an odd question š well I am an odd person lol I am very intrigued and tend to ask a lot of questions as I really donāt want to get things wrong with shrooms. Also I would like to know the to this as well. A lot of grow kits have mycelium from what I have read although never any for subs as I heard they are quite hard to culture

Cant say whats in the first set of photos. Second set of photos is most likely dried subs. 3rd set of photos, the ones in the pine bark are subs, the ones in the poop look like a psilocybe sp cant say what, More pohotos would be useful. 4th photo of the pin in dung cant really say what is, would be good to have a photo of the mushroom mature.
