Looking for help to ID species on grow 1

Not quite polished on identification quite yet, so could someone please assist me on tagging these? Were sent to me labeled as a Pan Cyan (Unknown Variety). I have dug around, but haven't came up with any similar pinset images that match up with these guys. Growing in a Martha setup. Any help would be much appreciated. Only helpful info I can provide is that the spores were dark. Black/possibly deep purplish. It was a swab, so it's pretty vague lol.

I'd Say Those Are Psilocybe Cubensis Pins, I Haven't Seen Panaeolus Cyanescens With Universal Veil Remnants.

The growth seems awfully finicky to conditions to be a Cube. The myc grew differently on agar, it took over grain differently, and they seem to be much too picky. I will agree that I have seen somewhat similar cube pins, but these just aren't growing the same. If it were to be, it would have to be a PE variation I would imagine. Thanks for the input!

I was afraid that would be what's needed. Sucks, because I would like to know the preferred conditions for optimal growth. Thanks.

that isn't veil remnants on the cap if that's what you are talking about. that's mycelium. I have to admit that cubensis was my 1st impression but experience tells me to wait for it to mature more

To My Knowledge, A Universal Veil Is Mycelium.
What Is The Difference?

99.9% sure you’ve got Stropharia rugosso-annulata (king stropharia, wine cap, garden giant) not it’s preferred substrate but it’s not a terribly picky species.
Spore syringe may have gotten mixed up. It has a similar looking spore print so just be aware of that.

Psilocybe cubensis will look identical to that in pin stage. I'd be very surprised if alpha doesnt have psilocybe cubensis.

Partial and universal veils are membranes.

This is an interesting mystery. I hope the OP posts more pics of grown specimens.
We know he got spores labeled as Pan cyans, but we know it’s not a Panaeolus species. Many spore sources often produce “gourmet” species spores and Psilocybe spores for microscopy work. And as we’ve seen on the forums before, mixups are not uncommon. Cubensis was Stropharia cubensis prior to classification in Psilocybe. So there are similarities between P. cubensis and S. rugosso-annulata; i.e. spore print. It would by atypical for cubensis pins to look like the OP’s but they look like a dead on match for wine cap pins. That’s my two cents, but I’m perfectly happy to admit I’ve been wrong on many occasions.

Looks like a cubenis strain with a darker pigment, such as Burma.
