ID please, possibly Big Laughing Gym?

I think my last post to way to unspecific so; I found these growing on the floor in a wooded area, if nobody can identify them a simple yes or no on wether they're big laughing gyms would be great, but as always any help is greatly appreciated

They are Gymnopilus but I am not up to date on the species in the UK

I'd say Pholiota aurivella based on the veil remnants hanging from the cap margin and the large scales on the cap surface

^ agreed, looks more like Pholiota than Gymnopilus to me.

Thank you so much this is extremely helpful. I was almost positive that these were Big Laughing Gyms until I saw your post and realised that I had done no where near enough research, so thankyou again.

I agree, I admit that I didn't catch they were terrestrial for one nor do I remember seeing the spore print.

Either way, if it was a gymn, it'd be Gymnopilus junonius, which is now known to be inactive

I confess that I can't keep up with what Gymnopilus are active where outside of the U.S. it's a difficult Genus to identify to species level
