I would always fumble my plates as I was gucking with the sleeve, it always made me worry that I may inadvertently contaminate some by doing so, just as you described.
I tried ziplock bags after that but sometimes shit would get knocked around and I would come back to a cockeyed plate or two that would have to get thrown out.
Wrapping them this way keeps them secure and intact, never had an issue storing them. It works great for me.

Updated the OP with a couple of videos.
I decided to start a YouTube channel for cult.

Nice videos
Really cool seeing your FH set up and the mechanics of your transfer. I’ve ordered a FH and can’t wait to use it!

It just hit me that I can wrap a stack and divide accordingly right away. Wrapping 40 plates is one of my least favorite things to do in this hobby.
This is genius thanks for sharing!

It's definitely my favorite way to deal with blanks.

Best money I’ve ever spent.
I do have a question. I’ve used the cling wrap for stacks of plates twice now and have noticed the bottom plate or 2 but especially the bottom one I’m not able to get the cling low enough to get the bottom of the dish. I freaked when I tried to move it the first time and the bottom almost fell out lol. I ended up using parafilm to secure the bottom one that time and the second time I put a couple extra empty Petris under the stack so it wasn’t a big deal. Just curious how you get that bottom dish locked in. I also found a feed store and found they have 50 lb bags of millet for $39 which is way cheaper than the gucci birding store millet. They also had red milo for $15 a 50lb bag Any downside to using red milo vs millet? Thanks again for all the great info you’ve been providing for the community

I'll make an actual video but in the meantime go and watch the gif again: notice how my stack of plates is elevated by the rack, and my roll of cling is at desk level below the level of the bottom plate?
When you have the stack elevated at the edge of the rack and have the cling wrap below it, it wraps around and under the bottom plate holding it it place
If you wrap the stack by keeping the roll at the same level as the plates you'll miss the bottom plate.
Milo should work fine but I've never used it.

Thanks again p9! Got to try this today and by the 2nd stack I got the hang of it.
It saved me a lot time and energy. And it allowed me to get to work on some prints without worrying about unwrapped plates in the sab.
