Hey guys first post here. I recently got my hands on a new Non-Electric AA 1925x sterilizer. It has the inner container and a stopcock valve.Planning on getting a Cadco hot plate for it(CSR-3T), and using some 1-qt mason jars for sterilizing spawn. Prior to this, I bought grain spawn, so this will be my first time making my own. I'm just wondering if there are some tips from Sterilizer owners. Thanks guys.

Here's a tip. Put enough water in it and don't let it blow up.

That's a nice tip there!
You need to put the lid on straight before you tighten the nuts down. You do this easily by putting fingertips on opossite sides in the gap and adjusting till the gap feels even on your fingertips then alternate 180 degrees on the pot and adjust the same way and then the lid should be on evenly and you can tighten.
Tighten by 2 opposite nuts at the same time or you will make the lid go crooked.
Vent steam THOROUGHLY before flipping the valve.

Thank you. Good tips, I truly appreciate it. Idk why I didn’t try closing it like that (Usually tightened one-by-one). And I was gonna also throw some sort of towel on top of it while venting. I’ve heard it’s good for containing outside contams. I’ll also be sure to put enough water and regulate it, I don’t wanna die lol.

Dont throw a towel over your pc to vent lol that's a huge fire hazard and ridiculous. I swear to god if I hear that you did this..
Maybe you meant put a towel over the top to cool it after the cycle. That's also not really necessary but I'm sure a lot of people do stuff like that. Something like putting a damp washcloth over the weight while it cools off.

Sorry for misleading, lemme clarify. After releasing the pressure, I was considering placing a towel or a sterile paper towel over the stopcock during the cool down process so no contaminants would enter through the valve but I guess this step wouldn’t matter as much. I wasn’t gonna put a towel over it while cooking. I just happened to see a post that recommended the idea.

You don’t need to release the pressure just let it depressurize by its self. It’s much safer. If you mean after it depressurize than you can do that but there no need because you just sterilized everything and if you have proper lids on your grain jars then no contamination can get in them anyways.

Oof. I would’ve made the mistake of releasing the valve to get rid of the pressure. Thanks for the heads-up Bois. You all have been extremely helpful.

Can confirm. Both these things happened to me because I was in a hurry. Bad idea.

Read the manual before using it would also avoid every problem mentioned here. Sell it and buy 10 23q presto pressure cookers lol
