Blue Oyster PF Tek - My First Grow

Hi all,
This is my first post here. I'm very new to growing mushrooms. I've followed the PF Tek videos.
This is one week after the cakes were placed in the fruiting chamber. Is it normal? Is the white fluffy part growing over the perlite is normal? I mist them at least 4 times per day.

It needed air. You cannot grow oysters in that closed environment. It needs tons of air, a lot. You would be better just growing them open-air and misting as many times as you can.

Pic #1 looks infected too. I wish I knew what that infection was, we see it a bit...

Forget about PF tek. Buy some 14A bags...
https://myersmushrooms.com/shop
Buy a bag of hardwood fuel pellets they are about $6 and if you have a PC big enough to fit the bags in buy wheat bran. If you don't have a PC just go unsupplemented. 1 Bag of fuel pellets will get you about 33 5 pound bags which will produce about 1.5 lbs 1st flush each bag.
If you are using bran then follow this recipe. Be careful with the water. To get your moisture content to field capacity. take a handful squeeze hard 1 drop at the most to get proper fuel pellet field capacity...
Measurements are in lbs water is in liters because I use a flow meter to put the water in.

Thank you all for your help. Does this mean that this batch is no bueno now? What could've cause the Mycogone perniciosa infection?

One step at a time solve the FAE problem and go from there. I am positive you have an FAE problem. I am not sure you have any other problems.

It was toast from the air starvation anyway, you can throw the cakes outdoors but I wouldn't expect too much out of them.
As far as the infection, I can't say much for PF-cakes, they can certainly work but it's not really the ideal way to grow anything.
I'd suggest getting a PC and learning to make grain spawn if you wanna keep growing.

Thank you for the advice. That is my next step. I was advised to do the PF Tek method to as a first project to see and learn the process. I have a PC already and will get ready to try the grain spawn way.

I hate people that give that advice they are two different monsters. I say start with what you are going to be doing instead of learning something that you will never do again once you do grain and bags.

You'll find a LOT more success once you learn to make clean grain spawn, you can grow anything after that

Here is what I did: I crumbled all of the cakes and put them in this small container and I've been watering them very often. They been growing but pretty small. Any other suggestions on what I can do with these "cakes"?
I really hate the idea of buying plastic bags. Would love to hear any other eco-friendly suggestions.
I've got log. Could I pack this substrate into log?
Thanks!

Are you sure they are blue oysters? The pin heads should be dark blue-grey, not white. Do the "cakes" have substrate or just grain spawn? Usually it's packed tight to prevent moisture loss.
