Didn't see your post til I dropped mine. Not trying to start anything, said my piece. I wholeheartedly wish for the union to be happy and positive.  If I can help in any way, feel free to PM me, but I hope you'll at least place a call.

From the pics that baby should be flying already(IMO), but even if a rehab won't take it in, they can ask you questions and determine perhaps how old, if its is in danger, if your handling of it is appropriate, if it has been abandoned, etc etc.

Look at it as a learning experience. I wish you well, OP.

I never said it's right to pick up a chick in the wild or to carry it around. This chick came into the house, it's not kmacmo who picked it up. And being one month (two months at maximum) old, it's not independent, so it's not a guarantee that it can survive on its own, especially when there are male adults around.

Of course it's stressful for it to interact with humans, but I don't see kmacmo trying to pet it or something like that. He only left food for it (at that age it would have been fed by its mother anyway) and let it come to the house at night. Speaking about the food, often birds die because they're fed a single carbs-only food every day for weeks by random people (unless you feed them something that it's straight toxic to that species).

Finally, where I live (Italy) animal shelters often refuse to take care of such birds, or they will accept them and then euthanize them.

I'm not saying this because I love nature and treat the matter in an emotional and irrational way, as I'm graduating in conservation biology, for whatever it's worth. Hope it didn't come off as arguing either.

He's just using the garden as shelter, I don't pet him or anything.
The gulls nest on the roofs of the houses and at this time of year you can see quite a few of them walking around on the roofs.

Maybe he managed to get down with no way back up, his nest could be on a nearby roof and his parents might still be checking in on him from time to time.
There very urban, they find food like worms and bugs in gardens normally and also eat through garbage.

I've been checking out other sources about when they start to fly, he's not big enough yet and I used the local wildlife center website rspca to talk to a helper they said it is not big enough yet the only thing they recommend is I check to make sure he's leaving the garden and for periods at a time so he's probably feeding also that he's not sitting in a single place for hours on end. If he's active then their advice is to just let him use the garden till he can fly.

Do not feed seagulls alka seltzer or white bread
:smilingpuppy:

Organic chips, low-salt nuts and cooked, un-spiced spaghetti are good food options for seagulls. Try to stay away from empty carbs like white bread and sugary cereals. Regular Cheerios also are a good source of vitamins for the birds, as are unshelled and unsalted sunflower seeds.

Seagulls are very clever. They learn, remember and even pass on behaviours, such as stamping their feet in a group to imitate rainfall and trick earthworms to come to the surface. ... Seagulls are attentive and caring parents.

So I've been thinking and I think I've come up with a solution that will please everybody.  Op should sacrifice that baby seagull to the Gods.

Does not contain seagull, or lyrics by flock of seagulls.

Was not at all serious when I put that up, but when I rewatched this morning I LOLed so hysterically I cried. I think I'm suffering a mental break.

Hey OP, how's your cousin's gull?

That's him today, he likes the sugar free cheerios giving him some at night but not too much making sure he's still going out and picking through the grass.
