Rye to bulk?

To my fellow mycologists, I have in the past only done PF Tek. I got tired of PF Tek and wanted to try something new. I now have 50 pint jars of grain, most of them fully colonized. How do I progress from here? What needs to be done to move them to a bulk substrate and get some fruits? And how long should it take to fruiting? Oh, my environment is indoors and temperatures usually 75-76.

Once colonized you spawn the rye to a bulk substrate. Use this tek to prepare the coir verm.

Now I don’t like the way he does monotubs, I recommend this configuration for the chamber.

After you spawn it don’t worry about taping holes or keeping it in the dark. Just give it light on a 12/12 cycle and let it do its thing.

thank you for your help. I had a look at the tek. 1 Brick of Coir 2 Quarts of Verm 5 Quarts of Spawn
Am I correct to assume that 1 brick is about 1.5 lbs?
Seems most of the substrate is made up of the spawn. Why is coir and vermiculite even needed?
I was looking online to buy some coir and it seems pretty pricey. How much weight is normal from this setup?
And what size monopod do I use?
Thanks again for your wisdom

A brick of coir is 650~ grams and will expand to 8-10 quarts of media once hydrated. If you pay more than $3 a brick it’s probably too much.

Where do you buy coir? On Amazon the cheapest I found was $8. I checked a local Home Depot and had nothing.
Do I understand correctly that you just put all in the mono tub and give light 12/12 from start? Do leave tub cover off? Do you mist or hydrate in any way?

Go to a pet store and look in the reptile section.

I buy mine from IKEA, if you live in northern Europe I believe they have the cheapest coir around.

I got coir and I have vermiculite. I thought I have 4 - 5 quarts of spawn. The mono tub is my bottleneck. I have three tubs that are 50 something quart size. I have used them in the past as fruiting chamber for PF Tek cakes. But they have 1/4" holes at about every 2 inch, including the cover. (See picture.) Is it possible to use of them for this bulk substrate? If so would I line the bottom with black plastic? Do I leave/cover/which holes?

Trying to make a monotub out of a SGFC is like trying to make a truck out of a car. You might be able to do it and it might even work. But shit gonna be less than ideal. I would keep the SGFC’s since they are handy for gourmet and exotic species and buy new tubs for monos. I would follow this tek.

Thank you so much for your help.
I was going through your instructions on building a tub. Let me check that I have this right. Excluding the extra hole on the bottom on each narrow side, it will be a total of 16 holes – 3 at 5” from the bottom on the wide sides and 5 towards the top on the narrow sides ?
I am not in a dry climate, but my A/C is 24/7. I live in South Florida.
Instead of drilling I would use soldering iron.
I also see black (?) plastic lining the bottom of the tub. Is that a plastic garbage bag cut to fit? Is there anything else I should know?
Nothing on the cover? BTW my cover is not translucent (the container is) is that a problem?

I followed your Ez dialed monotub. I have substrate sitting in it for exactly 2 weeks. Here is what it looks like. Do you think it is doing ok as far as AE/GE and humidity? I didn't add the optional hole.

Surface looks good but you might need some more FAE. I would drill the extra hole on the short sides.
