The drive-in has been open here a few weeks now and they've played a few interesting things. I think Ghostbusters was on a week or so ago, fucking Grease, lol. They have Jaws and Jurassic Park on tonight I'm just waiting for it to start. Should be pretty awesome, I was 2 when Jurassic Park came out!
Anyone seen any neat oldies at the movies lately?

I was in a some super tiny town the other day at a bbq place and across the street there was an old timey theater, the ones that just have one screen and they were playing Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I feel old now.
The irony is that they're probably playing better movies now than they have in the past 10 years as a result of covid.

Yeah there are a lot more good movies to pick from if you're not just limiting it to the ones that came out recently.

Personally, I'm totally fine if theaters die.
I'm loving the trend of releasing movies straight to streaming. "Greyhound" was a great example. It was awesome on my home theater, literally, better than going out to the movies. Theaters can go the way of the do-do.

Yeah, it's on Apple +.
It'll be interesting to see how that "straight to streaming" decision works out. I thought I read Apple paid like 70 million for it. I'd assume that after a certain period of time, it may move to Netflix and other platforms; depending on what they pay.
Seems to me the big difference is that when they're signing these contracts, the money is guaranteed. It's a big difference from depending on box office sales. I hope this model catches on.
