Unkown Polypore
    #26844921 - 07/25/20 04:49 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

I found a huge batch of these growing off of an old stump. Anybody know what they might be? I find these frequently, but never paid them much attention. Now I'm really into mushrooms with medicinal benefits, so I couldn't pass up the chance of trying to get these identified.

They smell really good too, a nice strong earthy mushroomy smell.

Ah, I actually thought so too Alan, but I have given up trying to identify mushrooms, I just pain suck at it, so I didn't bother telling you guys what I thought it might be.

Are Turkey Tails the only type of Trametes that are medicinal?

Anyway thanks for the reply my good man

Your First 3 Pictures Are A Gymnopilus Sp, Not Sure On The 2nd Specimen, Last 2 Could Be Pluteus Sp

I'm Not Sure, With All The New Research Recently Put Out On Gyms, Your Going To Have To Wait For Someone More Experienced With Them To Respond.

I Assume Yours Are Active Because I Can See Bluish Bruising, But I Could Be Wrong.

Lucky you! It's been scorching hot here, and it will not rain at all. Surprisingly I have been finding lots of reishi for tea though despite the fact :awesomenod:

Yeah, back when I resided in Florida, I could find Cubes all year round, even with temps in the 40's!

I can't hunt year round here though, mushrooms cease to grow here from November, all the way until late March
