I have 3 or so old jars (guessing 18months) of Galindoi whose siblings produced quite nicely (160g per jar). I was thinking about getting a 50cc syringe to add water, shake, and remove water to inoculate new jars. I cannot do g2g (no SAB, etc) and wondered if this would work. If so, any suggestions on amount to inject in a qt jar, how long to marinate, and how much to inject in new jars. Thx.

You would need a sab for what you are describing.
A sab is a super cheap way to do sterile work and you're doing a disservice to yourself by not using one.

Hi TL, I understand the considerable advantages of a SAB, but I have neither the room nor secure environment for one. I am hoping I can fill a syringe with sterile water (boiling, PC’d?), inject in the old jars SHIPs, shake, remove from old jar via SHIP, inject in new jar SHIP. I am hoping using a sterile syringe and sterile water, and using SHIPs, will be sufficiently sanitary.

A SAB is literally just a box. I made one from a cardboard box before I had the tub.
You don’t need a special room or anything for them.

I grow 12-18 jars at a time. This is sclerotia, not fruits. No tote, no SAB. I am hoping someone here has done what I am suggesting or has knowledge of it. Yes, a SAB works great, I know. I can’t use one in this situation. It is either what I am asking about or open air g2g, or just harvesting the old jars.

Do the jars you use have injection ports? I have never personal made liquid culture that way but have heard pretty much you just inject the water in before shaking, Shake it up as good as possible bang against your hand or bicycle tire to knock the myc loose and draw it up with a sterile
Needle and sterile syringe. Don’t open air g2g it’s just gonna lead to major disappointment. I would iso sterile a plastic bag and work
In there before I open air.

Oh I got you you’re just going for stones spore syringes are really your best bet then. you can’t really make LC they make a SAB that is kind of like a bag I don’t know if you could make that work then you could do green to green transfers or make LC or agar or whatever

What he is asking about is basically GLC right?
If you have an injection port that will probably work if your starting jars are super clean cultures
But why not build a sab and use it just long enough to get a good LC going, then you dont need a SAB anymorr and can just keep expanding the LC?
As long as you are using LC vessels with injection ports you shouldnt necessarily need an sab for long. You could even use GLC to inoc a big thing of LC. Throw it in the fridge when you are done and use it again next time you need it

I wonder if you’d get more stones leaving 15 jars sitting for three months or spawning one and starting a new jar every few weeks.

lot of factors there
people think they get stronger with age but there really isnt any empirical data on it, so more may or may not equal better
fruiting some might get more total, but its a lot more work and takes more babying (vs leaving jars in a closet)
truffles from jars are definitely more truffles for less work, but spawning probably yields more total
i wanted some truffles about 20 days ago so i opened a jar and spawned the leftover, a month later ive harvested 2 killer flushes of fruits and already have a surprising amount of stones in the sub. this is a very stone heavy iso though. i think these were my best galindoi fruit harvests ever too

I was just wondering that also... I've got a jar of ATL#7 that's about a month in... I'm gonna give it at least 3 months but when I do spawn it, does it need some crazy set-up or Martha or can you shoebox em like cubes?

No it doesn’t need anything special. You can do a mono or shoedbox or build a FC. They like lots of light and FAE and my culture of atl likes a good misting not sure about others. Also it’s been suggested to case with sand/coir 50/50. Also (and this is just my personal experience) but from spawning right after 100% colonization to bulk and giving it a good four week run in a mini mono I’ve gotten 240g of stones before so I see no reason to wait to spawn but again other people may and probably do have other experiences. This is just mine.

When I fruited my atl7 a few years back I used a cheap three tier greenhouse I bought off Amazon. I cut 4 or 5 6-inch slits in the plastic and ran a cool mist humidifier 24/7 inside the greenhouse. I misted a couple times a day. They really seemed to do well with a lot of misting.

I have 3 more jars colonizing right now... I'll do some side by sides with those... just wondering if I had to upgrade anything before it's time to spawn... that is for the I fo dudes!
