Clone and agar question

Hey Guys,
So I thought these Petri dishes I had going were doing good but after reading some threads now I’m not so sure.
I had a HUGE fruit and took a piece from the inside center of the stem. Was extremely sanitary with the SAB and all my prep. Followed everything to the T (I know there’s always a chance to get contams though.).
I put this cloned piece on agar 9 days ago. Here is what it looks like.

It looks kinda fluffy. Is this normal on the first Petri and after some transfers it will be better? Or is this bad?
I can try and get more pictures if that helps.

It looks ok but fuzzy, I like seeing at least a sector of more organized growth but I'd just take something from that upper left area and see how it grows out

It was 57 grams wet so figured I’d give it a shot and clone it. I have since read that I might not get the same size fruit especially since I got it from a first flush so I don’t know. This is still all new to me.

I'd do another transfer from trailing edge. See if you can get different growth on new plate.

Today

And this next one I also did at the same time but it didn’t stick to the center right away and bounced around a lot when I moved it

Hey guys,
Gonna transfer today. Most of it just looks like fuzz, so does it matter where I transfer from? Even up to a light there doesn’t seem to be any rhizomorphic growth that I can see. The other one that’s all over the place kinda looks like there is but not sure.

So, I transferred a piece from each dish into two new dishes 4 days ago and still nothing. Do you think it’s not mycelium?
I got the agar from a reputable place so I don’t think it’s that.

So, they are starting to take to the agar now so hopefully in a few days I’ll have enough growth to post a picture for you guys to see.
I also put a few drops of a MS syringe on some agar at the same time. Like 10 days ago now. Nothing has happened except this at the top, which I’m guessing is some sort of contamination.

You don't need rhizo growth to have a good culture. Some of my best grows came from cotton ball myc. People like the way it looks and because of its appearance it tends to look like it colonized faster. Beyond that I don't understand the fascination.

So my “cotton ball” myc is good enough to put to grain or liquid culture solution?

That one with only one growth section. The first picture I would have no issue in inoculating.

So I transferred a piece of that colonized agar up top to a new Petri dish and they are still growing out like cotton balls. How to people get that rhizo look? I’ll see it one day starting to lool rhizo and then the next day cotton ball grew over it or something. So the last time it looked like rhizo is when I cut it out and put on a new Petri Dish. I did 3 of them and all are growing nice but all look like cotton balls.
Any ideas?
