Spawn Ratio Question

I think I’ve read nearly every spawn ratio post in history on this site, and it certainly appears that 1:2 spawn to substrate ratio is the most widely agreed upon ratio. I have these pint jars, which calculates to a half quart per jar.
So, if 650g coir hydrates is about 8 quarts like people say and one pint is a half quart, then a 1:2 ratio would be 4 quarts of spawn, so 8 jars. Or maybe a little more than 8 because they’re all only 2/3 to 3/4 full?
Is this right? Please advise!

Personally, at this stage of my growing career, I would just go about 1/2 and 1/2. The coir is mostly just there to keep up the moisture -sure the mush mycelium will eat some of it, but I would just concentrate on a getting a succesful grow with what you got. What I'm trying to say is 'think small' for now. My 2 pennies. Others may have a different opinion. Good luck.

Right on. I usually use 4-6 quarts to a brick of coir. Pints are 1/2 quarts, so anywhere between 8-12 pint jars should be good.

Yeah normally I just mix it based off sight to get the ratios right. Cause having a 1:1.8 ratio done by sight vs a precise 1:2 ratio measured out isn't going to really affect anything. So dont let it worry you too much.

Also, pretty much any time someone talks about quarts here for measurements they're talking about "myco quarts" which are the quart jars filled up ~2/3, like we want them. Unless talking about something not directly related to spawn, such as how many quarts of water to put in a PC.

That's true everyone says quarts, but no one has full to the top jars.

lol yeah quart of spawn means mycoquart which is 3/4.
I think I usually do one part spawn three parts sub. I always eyeball it but the one time I measured out a quart of coir the sub was tiny.
