Bird feeding suet as nutrient for agar rounds (instead of dog food)?

I saw something here that said fat is bad for substrait, but how about for agar inoculation medium?
I saw inexpensive bird feeding cake at the store with no preservatives, was just:
-Corn -Peanuts -Beef Suet -Oats -Soybean Oil.
Is there anything in there that would be the enemy of inoculation?

Unproven recipes are usually -in my experience anyway- a recipe for disaster. It is always wise to stick with proven methods and save experiments after you are experienced. I like the way you think, but the reasons why this thought is not a good one will become apparent as you gain some grower's wisdom.

Thank you.
Since there are a lot of different proven things, which do you prefer to go in with the agar and water?

I rarely make my own agar concoctions anymore, just buy it pre-mixed in powder form from one of the Shroomery sponsored companies that advertise on this site.
But my favorite recipes are: 10 grams dextrose sugar 20 grams agar
added to 1 liter of potato water. (1 large potato sliced and boiled in 1 liter of water for 1+ hours). Some water will evaporate so replace what is lost to make 1 liter, then add the above ingredients. (remove/ strain the potato slices!).
Recipe #2 - 20 grams malt sugar 20 grams agar 1 gram nutritional or brewers yeast (from health food store or wherevs) Add 1 liter of water.
I usually use the potato (1st) recipe. And found that it works just fine for the species of shroom you are talking about.
Pressure cooking for 30 minutes @15 psi does the trick. You probably won't need so much agar all at once so scale it down. 1 liter of agar can fill 40 petri plates the way I pour it so do the math for your project. Hope this helps.

The easiest agar that I've worked with is simple malt extract agar (MEA). You can buy it as a pre-mixed powder, or you can buy the dry malt extract and the agar powder separately. All of those are available on Amazon or ebay. Buying the powders separately lets you tweak the nutrient concentration and the firmness of the final plates however you see fit.

Yeah I almost exclusively use light malt extract. Just that, agar and water.
I sometimes make grain water agar which is a 50/50 of regular water to grain soak water and enough agar to thicken it. Simple recipes are fine for cubes in my experience.

Thank you.
Grain water / agar sounds simple and good.
How long do you soak the grain to make the grain water. Or do you cook / PC it?
Will any grain work? Organic brown rice?

I use fooman's WBS prep most of the time. You don't soak your grain at all in that method you just get water boiling, pour your WBS in and close the lid and turn the burner off and let it sit for 20-25 minutes. The water that's left over from that works.
I'm sure any grain would work. You can also grind up brown rice and use that as the nutrient source. The possibilities are endless with agar really. You just need something with some sugars in it and the myc will eat it.
