Anxiety After A trip?

A friend of mine has recently said to me that he has been having anxiety and not feeling himself after a 3.5g subaerigunosa trip. I did trip sit for him and he seemed to be having a good time, he nor I would describe it as a bad trip. Any advice or information on his situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks .

What is he having anxiety about? The trip? His life? Might help focus discussion.
Cheers DJ Ed

More info needed.
Additionally,
"Not feeling like yourself" is often misconstrued as a negative thing (or purposefully given a negative connotation). Real personal change requires dropping the worst parts about you and completely restructuring yourself. As a result, "not feeling like yourself" is the byproduct of such a transformation.
If you think back, you probably don't feel like who you were 10 years ago. This isn't a bad thing as we change with age, and some of us greatly change. I've noticed mushrooms can greatly catalyze that process. It might be odd at first, but that "feeling different" is unavoidable. When I think back, I can hardly identify with who I was 10 years ago and would definitely say I don't feel like the same person. Thus the process can be gradual (you don't notice the slight changes adding up) or abrupt (as can occur with trauma, psychedelics, etc, and is generally much more noticeable and, at times, disconcerting).

3.5g is a fairly high dose for most people and I'm sure "not feeling like yourself" afterwards is extremely common. However, it's important to remember that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. As Socrateshroom said, this uncomfortable feeling is usually just a facilitator for change and can be a very positive influence on your life if you let it.

He says he's been having increased anxiety when around people, just general social anxiety I guess. I've told him what has already been said in this thread and it has helped him out, so thanks .

Glad to hear it helped!
The common belief is that, after a good trip, you'll get this afterglow that'll carry you on a stream of nirvana for a short time. And many times, that is the case as, in my experience, the afterglow post trip can be incredibly euphoric.
But, at times, even after a good trip, you have some trouble reintegrating into the world. Everything you experienced may have been so incredible that it shakes your core belief system. Even if you don't consciously think it, your subconscious might be grappling with decoding a profound experience that rarely occurs in ordinary life. So you may feel uneasy, strange, "different", etc, as your mind tries to reconcile your pre and post-trip self.

The only time “anxiety” affects me after a trip, on reflection, is when I have been tripping “hard” and or “regularly”. My mind starts to get confused between hyperspace and waking space. It’s then that I really, really appreciate having a sane mind!
Take care DJ Ed

He should try tripping again at a lower dose, or abstaining entirely for a year or so. Sometimes if you come out wrong, you can fix it by going back in. Alternatively you can abstain for a long time and that seems to work too.

What sort of anxiety do you get dj?
I would agree ime that after hard trips, not necessarily bad but a high dose I have questioned my core beliefs and that sparks a change in my behavior and thought process. That can bring about anxiety as I transition to a different phase in my life.
I have had times where I questioned my very existence. Just thinking, what is the point of all this. I have found no answer anywhere which has lead me to the belief nothing matters and so there for I get to choose. That gave me anxiety for a long time.
I ask myself, when I use mushrooms am I helping humanity in any way? We each create a culture in our home. Public nudity might be illegal but within your own culture, nudity might be more than acceptable in shared spaces. I think the hope is that it leaks out and others will do the same but does it work? Well these are a few things I tend to think about sometimes after a hard trip.
