Anyone keeping up with the goings on in China and the Chinese consulate here? I hadn’t seen it mentioned. I’d figure with this new found sensitivity towards racism that China would at least get a mention. So from my count China has promised retaliation for Huawei, for shutting down the consulate and something else that’s currently slipping my mind.
Interesting things, when the consulate got shut down they were filmed mass burning documents. Like some cartoon shit. Another interesting thing is when it got shut down a wave of anti Trump propaganda hit the internet. Sounds like some of you are taking that bait.
Anyone want to venture a guess on where all this is going?

All consulates the world over, no matter the nation are essentially sanctioned spying (cause it's easier for the host nation to track them) so of course they were burning documents. Nothing unusual about that, just like when say Russia pisses us off and we kick out 10 or 12 of their spies, Russia retaliates and kicks out diplomats/closes consulates. you think we don't burn all the eyes only shit in there?
Typical tit for tat political BS

China and Russia are actively subverting the flow of information and perception of politics in the United States. They do not have a side which they support more than the other. They are actively confusing the populace, funding disinformation campaigns and dividing nations to influence better positions from which to leverage their assets in international politics.
You might see anti-Trump propaganda and think of it as some Chinese ploy to prop up some Democratic side, but it's far more complex than that. Trump is generally ineffective at combating against this threat, and perhaps intellectually incapable of not acting as a useful idiot for them while thinking he is making conscious decisions against their tactics - however Republicans and Democrats alike are sopping up what both countries are putting out. Chinese and Russian subversion techniques aren't such that they mean to prop up a puppet on this side or that, so much as they are attempting to completely sabotage rival nations through political, economic and social instability at every level.
Trump isn't being undermined, the entire political system is and has been under attack with increasing investment for years now. They do not need to covertly create problems, they merely capitalize on existing ones and use existing events or conspiratorial feelings in order to propagate entire campaigns meant to confuse rather than sway. They can use the news of the day to gaslight an entire nation into thinking they are the boogie men or rational world actors, both views of which play into their benefit and interestingly enough change with the national conversation by the month.
Ideological subversion is cheaper than boots on the ground. The stakes are lower, the rewards are larger. It's the way they will continue to wage war against not just the United States but the Western alliances as a whole so long as they have governments which are well established and controlled by a firm hierarchy and while we maintain democratic institutions and means of governance.
Our form of governments in the West largely rely on free information and public participation in government, and that is easy to manipulate because people decide on policy or representation and representation and ideas can be influenced subvertly, covertly and openly with little to no repercussions.
We're at a point where it's an open 'secret', but the conversation is handled in a way that partisans readily point to the other side as being in bed with the subverters, where there is uneasiness because no one really knows the scale at which they are actively doing these things (where many even think it's less often than the publicly available information towards the fact) and where we're generally unsure of where it could head.
The Western alliance has maintained relative power through direct combat to achieve end goals. Modern technology has played in our favor for generation after generation, but it's also made established nations with rigid one party systems harder to influence because direct occupation is no longer possible thanks to machine guns and nuclear weapons. Subversion is more important than at any time in the past, but our systems are incapable of doing so at the same scale because democratic institutions going back thousands of years favor direct combat as a means to establishing power over covert subversion which the public is not able to openly know about.

It’s a relatively cheap yet effective tactic. I’m sure the big players are all doing it to someone to some extent.

We do it too, though it's harder in an authoritarian regime that can mostly control information flow. I say mostly cause peer to peer cell phone networks that are encrypted exist as well as VPN with encrypted tunnels. I don't know so much about it, but my brother works cyber security for department of Labor (no small task, jobs report leaked earlier could make a person a millionaire quite easily)

They are so locked down theres no way to verify anything about China as true or false. Pretty sure they want it that way

I can't help but post this when I see the word CHINA in here, lol.
China Red Rockers Danced with wind and danced with fire Killed the truth and called the liar Bleeding in its mystery when the moon began to fall Dreamers are not all they seem, Sleeping in her silent dream She locks it all inside and hides it all away China, China Calling out to history Is that the way it will always be? China, China Questions in my hand, and then Answers gone till I don't know when All you speak and all you hear Hand that's strong and voice it's clear An unforgotten memory when the moon begins to call Called you right and called you wrong Time, the shadow, sings your song Don't lock it all inside and hide it all away China, China 4x
