Need gentle help – first time grower

Hello
I have read a lot of the threads posted here but still feel confused.
I successfully grew mexican mushrooms out of a growbag, but little did I know what’s ahead of me. I had all the instructions from the shop, and an additional research.
I first pre-dried them with a fan for some 10 hours. Meanwhile, I was busy making a homemade disiccant (magnesium sulphate) for proper drying.
The pre-dried shrooms ended up for just one day in my fridge in an air tight container. When I took them out – they felt quite moist again and largely bruised, also super shriveled (the smaller ones). I can’t imagine why the moisture returned, but mostly I’m worried something not so good happened to them (even overnight??)
Please, if you have any tips – I’ll be super grateful. I haven’t eaten shrooms in over a decade and really want this batch to survive.
Currently drying them some more on kitchen towels with the fan moving the air.
Some 1/3 is drying in an air tight container with the disiccant.
Any tips and experiences will be greatly appreciated <3

My advice is to buy a dehydrator and properly dehydrate your mushrooms. This is your best option.

10 hours under a fan isn’t going to dry them out completely. They need almost that long in a proper dehydrator. The bruising is most likely just the normal process of psilocin coming to the surface and oxidizing which starts happening as soon as you harvest. This is why it’s important to get them dried out as soon as possible, to maintain maximum strength.

Thank you so much for your replies. If I’m unable to get them dried in a proper dehydrator this time, what is my best option (outside of my magnesium sulphate disiccant)? Still also confused about the best way to store them, too

Make tea, that will maximize your fruits for now. Not sure how long it keeps as i don't make tea. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25176006#25176006

Yeah, if you can’t dehydrate properly but have freezer space, make some tea and put it in cold storage.

Do you live in a warm humid climate? If you closed the fruits in an airtight container that contained humid air, the temperature drop would condense that humidity and it would be reabsorbed by the fruits. Warm air holds more moisture than cold so as it cools the moisture condenses on surfaces. I'm sure they are still just as potent you just need to re-dry them.

I was going to chime in on that... I went from humid sea level to dry mile high above sea level. You really gotta just work within your environment.
You can dehydrate them here just by default it's so dry in the air and potato chips barely even go stale even. Fuckin weird.

thank you everyone for your input!
interesting stuff about the humidity – I don't live in an especially humid climate but it is summer and the air is more humid by default.
I fan dried the shrooms I took out of the fridge and packed them for now in a plastic zip bag.
the rest is drying in that box with the disiccant, hopefully it will dry super well.
I remain positive that they didn't lose any strength.
it's pretty amazing how I went from 200 g to maybe 30... soooo much water in those little guys
btw, should you handle them in gloves or is that not necessary if you have clean hands?
happy trails!

Proper dehydration generally removes over 90% of weight. IME 200g fresh would end up being around 15g dry.
Handling mushrooms after harvest doesn’t require gloves.
