Yeast...
White specs Is a sign of yeast.
I got a dose of yeast onetime In my spawn jars. I was baking bread at the same time I was inoculating my grain..

I would agree that is what I expect yeast to look like on grain.

Hi all!
Just wanted to share my setup pics and possibly get some input from more experienced growers. I know that I didn't completely follow the PF tek since I'm fruiting the cakes in a monotub, but I wanted to reuse the box for the next grow when I transition to the casing.
I have a fan sucking the air out of the bottom of the box that's not completely sealed to help with the FAE. I've been misting twice a day roughly but not sure if I should continue with that since the pins appeared. Hygrometer is staying between 95-99%.
Thanks!

I know you already got all that set up, if you decide to do another cake grow but dont wanna modify your tub, I'd recommend going the Humidity Chamber route: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25339094/fpart/1/vc/1
That would give you better results than the setup you have now

I’m using the HC tek for my first P.F. cakes. Going well so far. Going to ease up on the misting tho

Trim the foil a bit so it's only as large as the cake

I had them that way and this cake started colonizing the coir so I made the foil a little bigger. You’re right though it’s a little too big

My guess would also be your RH is too low. This will also inhibit additional pin development or maturation. Best to increase your humidity and also give that substrate a drink...
Thanks, that's what I thought, I actually flooded this more than once trying to bottom water. I'm now being paranoid and worried it might be some Leucocoprinus as I learned those show up in potted plants around here, but I clearly don't know enough to make a judgement call. It definitely doesn't look like the previous mushrooms from the same container (one week and two weeks ago respectively):

Haha I always wondered if that would happen in a HC. The foil under the cake right beside that one is perfect size

Yeah Mateah said he had a difficult time when he let a cake start colonizing the coir. Going forward I’ll trim that up a bit but for now I don’t really want to mess with them. Here is that cake today

Got a lil bit of fuzzy feet going on and the really small ones look like they may abort so I may have over misted / too high RH so the lids are off. Also one has that weird dusty top but it seems common with B+

Haha it's not too sharp, couldn't cut yourself with it unless you fell on it.
*falls on it*
...Gotta stay clear of it anyway for sterility.

A couple days ago I set my scalpel with this old torched up blade on a stack of plates on a table. I bumped it and the stack tilted enough to slide the scalpel off and it landed perfectly straight in my foot.
Sooo much blood lol. It’s crazy how even after using it for so long it’s sharp enough that it just kinda itched getting stabbed with it.
It’s kinda concerning how many times something like that has happened in my short agar career.
