Computer fan attachment to monotub for fruiting
    #26838375 - 07/22/20 01:43 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Anyone have any suggestions on the placement of the fan on a mono tub? Looking to add it for air circulation. Also how long should I run the fans for? I’m thinking no more than 20-30 seconds. Lastly is there any way to polyfil one front of it so it can filter the air a bit?

Suggestion for a fan is none. You don't need one. Look at the teks for mono tubs that have been created on this site. All you need is a drill and some micropore tape AT MOST.

why??? it will dry the shit out of it. the monotub works so well cuz of the design. if u do that its not really a monotub anymore. then its just classified under useless garbage that hurts yields more than it helps them.

unless your growing pans or other exotics there is absolutely no need for any of that kind of shit period. me and many many others thanks to bod😃😃 have grown fuckin huge ass canopies of cubes in an un modded tote with a flipped lid. and the same goes for pastys ez dial. you simply just dont need that shit

Well sure I don’t NEED one lol. But I’m running with two monotubs one with and one without. I’d like to see for myself if it can impact fruiting at all. Tub will have two levels of 2” polyfil holes wrapping the tub spaced out every 4”. Tightly stuffed polyfil for bottom holes, tight for top. I was hoping the fan might be a nice added touch.

Humidity is a non issue. Room sits at 70% and will also have a coco/verm casing mix what’s pinning starts. Growing G.T., P.E. Mckennai and Albino.

Appreciate the response! Nope! Sure haven’t! This will be the first one! I am colonizing Mckennai and GT as we speak and will be moving to the tubs in a week or so. Will be inoculating PE and Albino next week. Gonna be a great time. Mistakes will be made.

Equipment and technique will be what I focus on the most. I appreciate the advice on not going with a fan, however I am still looking to try it with one of the four tubs I’ll have.

well how about running through a known and proven tek a few times and learn about what shit likes and learn the overall basic aspects of mushroom cultivation before playing mister wizard and trying to re invent the wheel

I can’t imagine improving much on traditional mono configuration with polyfil

Unless it’s to use micropore tape which is easier to apply and doesn’t get into the fruits

Although now I find strategically placed 1/4” holes and never taping or worrying about them at all is the easiest now

But no matter what a fan seems like a big step back in terms of innovations in the hobby. Fans and gadgets are very 2001.

just tryin to help ya hear man. all that bullshit will hurt u more than it will help you and until you know what it takes in the environment your growing in you shouldnt change anything at all. i can grow at my house and your house using the same things and the same culture and each grow will be different. thats cuz of the environment they are being grown in. so until you have even grown a single fruit in that environment u have no idea of knowing shit about how anything will perform. but i can promise you if u put a fan in a mono ur gnna be hovering over the fuckin thing with a spray bottle cuz its gnna get dry as an 80yr old ladys cunt. then inturn from all that added water inside the sub that thjngs gnna molder faster than your dead uncle bill. but do what ya will man just tryjn to save ya the trouble

All very great info. This is awesome! I don't think I will use the computer fan. I'll be honest, fuck the polyfil that micropore tape looks like the shit! Thanks again gentlemen!

No way! And you just set the lid on proper (not like unmodded tubs)? Can you share where you place the holes?

When dunking for future flushes, what are everyones thoughts of going with those strategically placed holes as per pasty tubs but then drilling a hole on one side of the tub and taping with micropore tape. Once I soak the tub, wouldn't it be easy to drain out of one of the bottom holes? Do higher spawn/bulk substrate ratio produce better 2nd and 3rd flushes?

Hey dude, thanks again for the advice. Officially harvesting my first tub this morning. Lots to improve on but I’m quite content with the results!

Very great design indeed. I've got a big 60 qt mono running his 1/4" hole placements combined with flipped lid. Just starting to produce knots now. Been reading quite a few of Pasty's posts, very very informative. So grateful to this community as I would have made so many mistakes without it.

Hahaha!! Ya. Big time bonehead move. I am shocked how many people fan their tubs or way overdo FAE. Drying the fuck out of your tub is a big deal. I'm starting to learn that I'd slightly lay more importance on hydration over FAE. This tub dried up pretty good. I am making sure the other 4 don't lol.
