Asante is going to give each and every one of you a Gold Coin! 5

"WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU MY FRIEND?"
I'm going to give you a gold coin that you can forever spend. If you have a coin of metal gold, you can only spend it once and then it is gone forever. I'm not going to give you a coin of metal gold,
I'm going to give you a coin of Spirit Gold, a coin of Wisdom Gold that you can forever spend and it will come back to you forever more.
It is the question: "WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU MY FRIEND?"
Ask that question of family and friends. What can *I* do for *YOU*? Think about it...
If someone you love and respect offers to do something for you, you are not going to ask something terrible of them. You will ask something they can comfortably do for you.
But then, when they did that for you, you will want to do something back for them, that is how friendship and love work, so you ask them "Is there anything I can do for you in return?"
That is the gold coin I give you here.
If you offer the right people to do things for them, they of their own free will will start doing things for you. If they do not, or ask the impossible, you know that they are not a serious friend.
But if they are a serious friend they will give back to you, and you ask again what you can do and they will ask if they may help you too.
See how I am really giving you something of value here?
Here is something you can use, that is honest as God and easy, that will show you who your real friends are and that will make you and your friends invest stronger in your friendship. You will become better friends by sharing freely between you.
Here it is, your gold coin.
A simple question that opens doors to success for you.
"WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU MY FRIEND?"
Use it wisely - it is Spirit Gold, it is Wisdom Gold.
And it is for you.
Here you go.
You are now richer for having learned this.

That being said I like the concept of the thread for the most part and the whole pay it forward attitude.

Seriously now, a gold coin nets about $1900 now.
If you apply the principle of the first post consistently and freqyently, your lifetime profit will be much higher than that.

Precisely when you are in need, invest in your friendships they are your assets when the going gets rough.
If you have friends with whom you are in the habit of exchanging favors, your need is as real as without it, but you can expect more helping hands to help you get back on your feet.

We often forget that correct knowledge, if properly applied, is power.
We know so many things that could work for us well if we put themj into consistent practice.
The "gold coin" of the first post is one of those.
If you read it its like but if you put it in practice you can intensify sincere friendships and recognize insincere friendships, all the while mutually benefitting.
If I just did something for you out of the blue, my asset value to you as a friend just went up. All cotton candy fluff and honey bees aside you will want to safeguard this asset more strongly than you did, generally in the manner just demonstrated.
Boom, your initial social investment netted a social profit for unvestor and investee and may initiate an upward spiral.
And its entirely wholesome.
Random acts of kindness as a serious, no nonsense social investment.

Seva
Sanksrit word.
Meaning:
"The sanskrit word for service is seva. Seva means selfless service. “Sev” to serve, wait, attend, honor, worship. It is to perform an act with no intent for personal gain or even acknowledgement."
One of the highest forms of spiritual practice.
This is why we are here now in this time and space IMHO! Ok to evolve too And human experience etc...
But imho this is really important and big aspect of spiritual growth.

hmm, i've read about this recently and wondered if i've been practicing this unintentionally... sometimes i impulsively do nice things for other people for fun, to bring a smile to their face, because i want to see them smile. other times i don't feel like helping someone else out, even though i technically could help them out, and while some people might feel like that's bad karma or wrong somehow, selfish...
it just doesn't feel right to me somehow. like... i don't want to help them out reluctantly, against my will, as an moral obligation. if i help them out, i want it to be impulsive, joyful. does that make me a bad person?
granted, i doubt this would apply if someones life or greater health was at risk here, just for general smaller hardships. when life or death is at hand, i rarely think about anything but the situation at hand and how to keep everyone safe. but sometimes i feel like the best gift is not a helping hand but a time out to reflect on ones mistakes...

i dunno, but to me, treating acts of love like some kind of sacrifice feels... wrong, somehow. love should be about a sharing, where both giver and receiver are lifted by the act. sometimes there's no choice but to sacrifice, if it's to save another, and that's the hardest kind of love of all, but that's something of last resort - it shouldn't be the first thing you go for.
if it comes to that point in the first place, there's something terribly wrong with society as a whole - there aren't proper wages in place, not enough social nets to keep people supported in times of hardship until they can get back on their feet (or support them if they're unable, due to injury or illness or the like - just because someone is unable to work doesn't mean they aren't a boon to society, after all. think of all the wonderful artists you see on the internet, the writers, the music you hear!), and too much burden being placed on the fellow citizens to perform "acts of charity" to keep each other alive, when the entire point of the government is to serve the people and improve the overall countries wellbeing, so that such situations don't happen to begin with.
so i guess i'm not a big fan of the whole sacrifice after sacrifice thing. it feels wrong, like slapping bandaids on cannonball wounds. it's never going to address the actual issues. i'd rather try tackling and changing people's minds, trying to encourage them to spur big changes in the country toward true changes that would lead to those sacrifices not needing to be made in the first place.

this is quite blatently false. you are an part of the world, and to change one, you must change the other. trying to pretend you are an isolated piece, like some scientists experiment, only leads to grief and loneliness. believe me, i know. that way leads only to nihilism and madness.
it is through our interactions with the world, through trying to change and/or fix it, that we learn and grow and change/fix ourselves. as below, so above. as without, so within. you cannot affect one without affecting the other. this is another reason why i prefer to keep my interactions with others joyful.

so am i, but i was referring to the "other" nihilism. lol.
i'm talking about the thanatos type. (if you remember those pub threads like the "what is love" thread lol)
nihilism is a great thing, but it's not for those who aren't ready for it. it's a tabula rasa, a blank slate...but if you're not an artist who's ready to fill that canvas up with your own vision, all you have is a void that can't be filled, one that's too terrifying for you to even try. it's very difficult to get out of that - your best bet is to look to art for inspiration, to books and stories, to music and other people's worlds to immerse yourself in and give yourself ideas. eventually you can come up with something to fill that void with, but it can take time.
so many people don't realize just how important art really is - truly, it's just as important as the sciences. the two actually work together to support each other, serving to inspire the other to greater heights. science offers new media and new ideas for art, while art has caused science to look at the world in new ways, or read something in a book or look at something in a movie and go... "hmm... i wonder if i could make something like that in real life..."

Art is life, and life is art. I had an art scholarship in middle school, step dad blew it for me.

i am currently trying to use my nihilistic beliefs to deny the existence of any pain from having my top wisdom teeth having been extracted an hour ago. granted the area is still numb so it doesn't hurt...yet. oddly enough my bottom jaw is more sore than anything from having had to open wide for 3 and a half hours lol.
had my first dentist visit in two decades - a full cleaning followed by a cavity filling (1 major one behind a front tooth, where you can't really see it anyways, and two tiny ones next to it that were just starting), followed by the two top wisdom teeth that weren't embedded. the bottom two don't have cavities and are embedded, so they'd need a surgeon and might not be covered by medicaid. i'd have to talk to the specialist to see, though since i suffer from tmj it's a "maybe" situation.
they said that my teeth and gums were shockingly healthy for someone who's not seen a dentist for so long though - only mild gingivitis and that main cavity, a hole in the back of the front tooth that's been there for about a year and stopped. plus some on the wisdom teeth on top, which turned out to be a good thing, since that meant medicaid would cover the extraction. (why bother getting fillings which are covered when you can yank em out and fix it permanently!)
i just wanna know what idiot thought wisdom teeth were a good idea! and why can't we get replacement teeth every once in a while through our adult life like sharks do? like every 15-20 years or so, or sooner if a cavity forms or broken tooth, boom new replacement forms!
