How thick of a casing are you using? I’ve been going crazy thin so far. I want to try a thick one but it went pretty well before. It looks like yours are like half an inch though in some spots.

Do you always fruit them in that hc chamber?

Usually about 1/4" casing. And i usually fruit them on shelves with a plastic bag, but figured id see how they do in jcms pan fc

Probably best flush ive gotten off this galindoi iso, i mostly use it for stones

I LOVE how those Gal's look man-- you may have hit a unicorn isolate if you get awesome stones AND fruits :psychsplit:

Whats really weird is my crazy prolific tamp iso was isolated off a stone clone

On shelves with plastic bags? Can you elaborate or do you have a picture of this method?

So I had this idea of taking a bulk substrate such as coir and vermiculite and spawning to this but instead of tubs using large bags. The idea here is to spawn as many as possible and put them up in a storage building for like 3 months to produce stones.

Wouldn't this work pretty well? My only problem with my idea is finding a large enough bag. Anyone got some clues where I can find large durable bags that can be sealed shut?

You don't want to use Verm or anything non-edible if you plan on eating the stones after.

It seems like exposing it to fruiting conditions is what makes the stones move fast but idk.

Otherwise I’d think the speed would be the same in spawn jars as tubs but it’s not even close.

It’s almost like the stones like the humidity or the oxygen just because it seems like everytime I put it in fruiting the bigger stones seem to grow close to or almost on the surface sometimes.

True that, I somehow wasn't thinking about that. Will coir stay moist enough on its own?

I’ve definitely had some of the biggest stones poke through the surface too.

Just coir is fine, I recently spawned my first jar of atl7 with absolutely no stones formed in the jar and pulled 140g wet out of the shoebox a little less than three weeks later.

It’s weird how quick they form in tubs.

Good to hear that. I've opened a 4 mouth old jar yesterday that had a few very small stones and spread it in some small containers. Im not adding anything to it just grains. After recovery I'll case and move to FC.
After casing how long before pins ? I have 2 shoeboxes that I  cased a week ago and no pins yet...

lol those are some fat boys.

Last time I had pins on day 9 from spawning but it moved very quick. Usually a few days after casing at full colonization from what I’ve seen but I’ve only done a couple so far.

Looks like a few more primordia in the background too. Keep them wet man mine started off great then aborted at like 3-4 inches from dryness.

I’m in the process of redialing in the pan chamber today too so we’ll see how these do in there.

Don’t stones form before full colonization pretty regularly??  I’ve still yet to see some in a jar. Usually I shake at 30 and spawn at 100 so it’s not that surprising but I haven’t gotten around to making coir in a minute and this tamp jar is on day 19.

It was prepped a little wet so I shook it an extra couple times early on to distribute the moisture, but I’m still surprised there’s no stones.

First time I did atl7 was a ms syringe to brf and the stones started forming long before full colonization. But lately with all the isolates I’ve been working with the stones don’t form at all till I spawn to bulk.weird.

Stone or contam?

It's been fully colonized for about 2 weeks now.

From watching everyone else's pics....  Sometimes stones form before 100%, usually with LC. Agar or spores, it's 100%.

That said, I really think you've got small stones against the glass in a couple places.
