Hey Lunar 93

I've had the exact same ones on my lawn - well over 100 of them I'd say. They first appeared a couple of months ago and are still going strong. I was also initially sure that they were Libs, but sadly not.

I think those might be 'Mower's Mushroom' (but I'm sure that someone on here with more knowledge will know for sure).

lunar93's finds are a Mycena species, possibly M. metata, which is typically found in large groups in fields and forest floors in late autumn.

Question to all.

When u guys go picking . Do you take every Lib?
I like to leave a few as they are apart of the environment right, and I don't wanna exhaust the stocks? Or is this silly thinking and I should just take em all ?

The same with picking loads of mushies that don't even turn out to be libs?

I was leaving a few behind, but then either someone else has been picking them, or the fox that lives in that field and watches my every move with great interest has been eating them. But I try to leave the odd one if I can, yeah.

This is my first successful year though, so I guess I won't really know the outcome of this until next year.

I leave some behind, especially the really small ones. Doesn’t feel right to strip an area bare.

Hi everyone. New person and poster here. I've only been looking out for libs for the past couple weeks since I'm currently in the West Sussex countryside in red spots on the mushroom map. Can someone please let me know of these are libs? Conditions were perfect on paper today and I got these from a cow pasture. I know I've uploaded quite a few pictures some just look a bit different to others. Thank you in advance!

DeeDoubleYou

I don't think that any of those are Libs, but I'm a newbie and it'd be wise to ask a 'Trusted Identifier' on the main forum to get a verified opinion.

In the meantime, please don't eat 'em!

2 very poor seasons in a row here for me in south dorset, not quite sure why....but temps seem perfect to me now as been very mild through Oct/Nov and found 20 today which is the latest I’ve ever found them so I’m gonna keep on mooching a couple of times a week until the weather properly turns.

I found 1 more Lib at lunchtime today in my usual spot, in North Kent. They're still poppin' (just)! We've had a couple of frosts in recent weeks too.

Thread has been quiet for a while. Are we pretty much done in the UK now? I've been watching a few libs I left on a couple of patches on my daily walk keel over and rot. Merry Christmas to the spores they drop.

Hey Strathclyde

I reckon so. I had a good look on Wednesday, but didn't find anything at all.

Hi everyone,

New member here, I found a few when I was in my early teens but never sampled them, I was a bit late to the party this year deciding I'm ready for what the teachers have to show me, but I was too late in the year in my ramblings locally I think

That being said I did find these two gifts in my horse's field towards the end of November, so I'm hoping next year now I know there's something under there if I make sure to keep the patch watered with the hose in the heat of the summer as it got really dried out this year it may help it regenerate/colonise for a better fruiting season

Still a lovely pair for a first season hunting I think

@RebSlav  do not eat those, they are not liberty caps.. stay away from mushrooms that grow on or around decaying wood. Not good my friend
