Unless the hills have seen hard frost the last few weeks I’d say given the temps the season is very much still on and at the very least it will be for a good while longer for those in the south. I picked these in central Scotland in an hour tonight so it is still popping off here and with temps it will be for a few more days yet. We’ve had plenty of rain though. It’s getting frosty and colder so I think the season will be finishing up soon. Get em while you still can folks. Happy hunting

They look so good, I'm just outside North London but can't seem to find any good areas here .. that's why I wanna go to Dartmoor or peak District because I know they are there bit worried it may be too cold but I may be able to get some still

Nice Find. Will be checking out my spots again. It seemed to be drying up as everyone said but given some last minute hope.

Yeah I found 2.2g (once dry) up in the hills up here last weekend. Gonna see if I can get up a earlyish on Sunday morning. before the temps really start dropping.

I was planning to go to the peak District on Sunday for a few days and do some walking and searching I was worried it may be too late but seems not.. what would you say are too low temps for libs to grow? Seeing you're post inspires me to take the trip , although I could also go to Dartmoor which will be a little warmer.
It's feeling pretty cold today just north of London

I couldn’t say for sure. They say ideal temps are 10-15 during the day and 5-10 at night. If it’s consistently lower than 5 degrees were you are searching numbers might be light. But some will have starting growing last week so I’d say as long as it hasn’t been freezing the last week there should still be some fruiting. I am picking at 140ft above sea level though so might be colder in the hills

The worst that could happen is getting shot by a farmer
this is the UK liberty cap thread, not the USA one
I was half joking but farmers are actually allowed guns in the UK. I've even seen a sign on a field saying if your dog isn't on a lead and bothers the animals it'll be shot.
Seeing decent finds still in Scotland has me realizing how utterly crap the South East is for picking. You can find a decent field of course but they're like hens teeth and you're really lucky to find any at all.
Nityananda, I'd say go for it and have one last shot at the season, go somewhere for the weekend you're actually likely to find some.

So went to my usual spot today. I don't know why but there was nothing. Seems the temperatures are affecting things in the north west. Anyone had any good finds this weekend?
I was finding a 100-200 per walk. Three weeks later. Nothing..... Just pans. So many pans 😩

yea i gathered, i was too although they are allowed guns, they are not allowed to shoot you just because you are on their land. if you survive it, which is likely because of the restrictions on their guns, they will be paying your bills for the rest of your life
they can shoot your dog though if they shot my dog though they would not survive long enough for me to be paying their bills.

Haha, loving all the bants on here about farmers and guns.
I went to my usual spot (in Kent) this morning and searched long and hard but didn't even find 1 Lib. There was a proper hard frost here too this morning, so I'm throwing in the towel.
This has been my first successful year foraging for Libs (I searched all of last autumn and found nothing). This year I managed to get a grand total of just 68 (all from the same field). People do say that South East England is not the greatest for Libs..........

Here in Lancashire 20 year ago, a friend and I were startled by a farmer as we p icked late in the day, he marched toward us with a gun in his hand, bolted in a flash.

I am located in South London. Found a grand total of one single lib this year so far. Nothing growing on two fields that usually has loads of them. Went out multiple times in the past few weeks and it seems this season might just be rubbish around where I live.

I hear you. I covered some serious new/old ground in Surrey & Sussex this year and not a single sausage. Conditions seemed perfect too.
Tip to fellow SE pickers: grow cubes!

Sorry to hear that Magic Molesey.
Next year I'm gonna try Wiltshire in the South West when I'm visiting my family down that way. Loads of sheep and cows down there!
There are only horse fields in the part of Kent where I live. Oddly though, the only field where I found Libs here doesn't have any grazing animals - just foxes and rabbits.

Still fruiting in central Scotland too. Picked a handful this afternoon. Not as many as usually as the weather was poor and wet so the buggers were hard to spot. I can’t advocate enough that it’s far better to pick after a spell of sunshine in the morning/afternoon so they turn white and stick out.

Hello,
I found these mushrooms growing in Kent, UK in my back garden.
They're growing in small patches in the grass, about 4-5cm in length and around 0.6-1cm in diameter.
Are these Liberty caps?
