Nice one AMitch.
From what I read on here last autumn, that particular deer park is very reliable. I hope it delivers for you.
I haven't been back to my spot since Friday, but I'll be keeping a close eye on it...

Finally found a moderate batch in Surrey (the kids brought luck!) and was still going until we literally got chased out by the herd of cows in the field, they came right up and started chewing our coats!

Those who have been successful this year - what kind of temperature has it been? It’s still around 12 degrees on average here so maybe a bit warm? Also, how did you spot them? Just walking slowly or do you need to be really crouched down? (newby questions - sorry) Thanks all!

Hi all,
I'm new to this and I perhaps naively expected to find them easily. I'm lucky enough to live right near two cow fields, and people used to come mushroom hunting in one of them 10-15 years ago although I've not seen them for years but I'm assuming they did find some back then. I really missed out as I wasn't interested in them back then.
Anyway, I've been out like half a dozen times since end August (although I now understand the season probably was a bit later than that this year) and I still can't find a single one. Went out this morning for an hour and a half and nothing. I've read on here people from the same area finding loads so I know they are about just not in my fields?!
And same question as the PP really-how easy are they to spot-would you see them just casually walking round a field or do you have to really examine closely? From all the pics I've seen they look like they'd be pretty easy to spot but it's hard to just go off pics. The leaves on the ground are making it very difficult to see things and the grass is quite long in places (I know they are darker when wet so that makes it harder to spot them as well) but really I feel like I would've spotted them if they were there I just don't think they are. Will look again in a few days though, good luck everybody, great forum!

To Amitch20 and Rache2020
I'm no expert at all, but I believe that they fruit once the temperature drops to 15 degrees or lower in the day and 10 degrees or lower at night. So now should be ideal.
I found mine by just walking very slowly through the grass for 30 minutes or so. The shrooms all seemed to be slightly shorter than the surrounding grass in which they were growing, they were quite well hidden. But from a lot of the photos that I've seen on here, sometimes they can be really clearly visible.
