In reply to Nato 23 Nice mate, im in rural Northumberland and can pick directly from my back door! although I head out to my main spots. ive hauled 85g dry upto now and I only think I've hit two nice flushes! on an average good spot i get 50/70g wet fruit a hour.its going well this year so I'm hoping to beat my personal best till the hard frost kicks. The Geordie shroom is the best lol

Afternoon all,
Hope you are well, we had torrential rain last night, my plan was to get up early and go picking but couldn't get away till the afternoon.
Was an enjoyable walk, nice sunny afternoon, i only found around 60/70 on my travels but i only passed maybe 2 other walkers in 4 hours.
I remember back when i used to pick with older friends back in the 90's, before the plot got turned into a golf course there used to be patches with hundreds in one area. I've not found any like it recently.
I used to think when you found one there would be hundreds around but im finding it hard to spot any more than a few dotted around different places where i am picking now.
I went further a field today because it was a lovely walk, i maybe need to stop and really spread the grass more, i find more now around the paths in the short grass, i guess going out late today i may have lost out on the big finds. I've attached some pics of my walk.
take care

Fairly certain none of these are libs but thought I'd get a mycologists opinion before trashing them.
Found in South East in a field full of field mushrooms circles.
Any help ID'ing appreciated. Interested in what they are if they are not libs
Thanks

I'm at just under 120g dried atm, and yes, Geordie shrooms are the best haha
My spots located near consett, the field ive found is an absolute gold mine. I'll be heading back there at the end of the week.

thats a canny bag of fun bud haha . I'm in the North pennine Hills which is cool for an early start to the season, I start finding them in August, but it also means my season finishes before most because of the weather.cheers for the reply man, fill ya boots!

Hey, can anyone help me please it’s my first season picking and I’ve just found my first liberty caps I believe. I found several but they were so small I mean tiny but they did have a noticeable nipple. My question is how long should I wait before going back to pick them? the heads were somewhat of a similar size to a 5 pence coin. I guess 2 or 3 days what do you think? Please help knowledgable people I’d appreciate it ☺️

Personally I'd pick them unless they're pins, libs vary a lot in size. Make sure you post some pictures if it's your 1st season, You might be correct but its nothing worth risking.

If the heads were the size of a 5p then I would suggest picking now, they don't grow much bigger than that as a standard anyway.

here's a fun two-headed mutant i found on friday in the nw peaks

had a nice forage out on the hills..not millions about but certainly enough
besides libs, i was also foraging rubbish
left the fields with two carrier bags full, not cool..
could everyone here please bring an extra carrier bag or two when foraging to fill with litter?
we must look after the earth!! it is the least we can do..
i would hate to think that it is lib foragers leaving rubbish behind but it seems likely for the area that i was picking in
also, one last gripe, please please PLEASE start your own id posts!! they are truly clogging up this thread..
take it easy, stay safe and happy hunting all!
