umapuma said: Hello! Any reports from SE foraging in the last few days? I am itching to see some caps in abundance, and am resorting to maybe setting off to Wales early hours tomorrow. However, I haven't been able to get out round here (SE) in the last few days to see if it's kicked off after this rain finally. If it has, a spontaneous trip to Wales in awful weather may be a little impetuous. But if it's still slow down here, then I'm up for the mission, especially as not sure if more of Wales might be in lockdown by next week. So any reports or insight from SE pastures would be most appreciated
Nothing yet in east Kent. Still a bit warm here I think.

Been picking this afternoon and found about 50 libs scattered around - just want to say a big thanks to the 3 guys picking on the same hills as me in North Wales that went out of their way to return an ID badge to me that I lost in a field (didn't even realise I'd lost it!!). Slim chance they'll see this but just on the off chance - thank you so much!! hmu if you're on shroomery

I'm in Maidenhead/windsor area and I've spent hours looking with no luck. It's been really dry though. It's been raining all night and still raining now. Is it worth looking during the rain

If you enjoy a wet walk then go for it! Just for note, everything I found was in sheep-grazing fields ~150-250m altitude. More of other species around - really had to hunt for the libs. You might be better off asking someone like Claudius - not sure if you've been keeping up with his posts in this thread but looks like he's having a great season

Hi gang. Was out early doors up on the South East side of Dartmoor. Was grim and got absolutely drenched, but came away with some finds. Can I have your thoughts on these please? TIA xx 🍄

Hi all
New to the forum and hoping for some advice if possible.
I went out walking in a field near me (South Kent) - open grassland and found these. I know the field has been fertilised in the summer. They are still wet so perhaps look a bit dark in the photos but are these Liberty Caps?
Hopefully these photos work...
Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm not a Trusted identifier but the ones in the first two pics look all like libs, some old manky ones too, yum
The ones in the last pic do look different, although I think they are libs too, stem looks classic solid white wavy and discolour at the bottom. If they have the gelatinous pellicle then good, I'd just expect more of a nipple on the top cap.

Hi, no libs there, the stem looks hollow and not wavy, wrong colour cap, no nip on the cap etc... Just did a google and this is good id guide: https://www.first-nature.com/fungi/psilocybe-semilanceata.php

How long do libs take to reach a decent size? I think I’ve found a potentially really good spot!! This it what size they where yesterday? I’m hoping no ones beats me back to them. We’ve had some substantial rain over night and still now. Just not sure how long to leave it before returning??http://

I'm not really sure about the biggest one on the first picture, that stem looks a bit fat or thats only because it is fully grown ? thank you

I'd give them a flick and pick straight away. Mybe leave the tiny pins to grow n spore, but defo take the others. They will start to rot after 5days to a week I guess.

For those foraging in the SE today I found my first 5 or so liberty caps of this season, were very hard to find in fields I knew grew them but I’d say if the rain keeps up and it gets a little colder things will pick up. Was just happy to finally find some!!!
