Not sure if this is the best place to post this question but I decided to go on a hunt in a place I've never been before.
Im around 500m above sea level in a feild that is grazed by lots of sheep, I've been hunting for a little while now so I'm fairly experienced. To me this location looks perfect for libs but I've only found about 10 in hours of searching does anyone have any reasons to why this might be ?
maybe not enough rain in the days leading up to my hunt?
Maybe because it was very wet there hard to see them ?
Im located west Midlands area and it can be frustrating when I see lost of people in this website get loads in one hunt does anyone have any thoughts on this? (I saw many different types of specimens)

The ones in the 2nd and 3rd pics definitely look like libs, the 1st pic probably are too.

sometimes theyre just not there. the conditions could be perfect but there could be just one of many reasons why they do not show up. i am having the same problem this year. keep your chin up and dont go out to find mushrooms, go out to have a nice walk in the countryside.
good luck, brother

I am in derby and still can’t find any libs. Been walking all over in fields, finding some mushrooms but no libs. Should I be traveling to higher ground or is it just a waiting game.

Nigel is keen for a Forage to find solace in the storm of panic. Super finds I see here. Well done. I shall return after a hard-reset.

Anyone on here recommend any long hiking routes in the high peaks? I’m going away for the weekend and would love to make the most of it (if you get what i mean ).

You can't over dry them because the idea is to remove as much water as possible. Dry means "cracker dry" - so that if you bend the stipe or cap at all it snaps - so that there is no give at all. When they are properly dry you should be able to crumble them to dust easily with your fingers.
To store them keep them in an air tight container out of sunlight. If you add a good amount of desiccant (e.g. silica gel) then you can pop them in a little before they are cracker dry - as this will absorb any residual moisture easily.
Really the only thing you can do wrong is to use too much heat to force them dry - so either leave them out at room temp, use a dehydrator or even perhaps an oven on the lowest setting with the door left open.
From experience two and a half days on newspaper in a normal warm/dry house isn't enough to get them cracker dry - but popping them into an airtight jar with something like silica gel at that point should be fine.

It is really beautiful up on the moors around Longshaw Estate - also the walk up Burbage from there towards Carl Wark and Higger Tor is simply stunning...although it is a fairly popular place to visit it is a good base as you can park at the Longshaw Estate.
Then there are the less well trodden paths out from Howden and Derwent Edges - where the moorland is vast, bleak and beautiful. I love to wander out on the moors around there - one can walk for miles and miles and not see another living soul.
Finally a personal favourite is the great ridge - from Mam Tor across Lose hill to Win hill - such a great hike...but again can be a busy popular place.
I think you'll find most of the high peak is a magical place if you take the time to explore it

Its a bad pic to be honest dude. The mushies need separating and photographing in individual type groups or singularly.
There is nothing active in there though, mostly inactives and potentially some toxic species.
What species were you looking for?

Having slow and steady finds this season, find about 20-30 everytime I take the dog out hopefully will get a decent amount built up before the season comes to a close. Anyone else only really finding babies this season? My last lot are the biggest I’ve found this season. http:// http://
