control is a fallacy but intentionally following your breathing is always good, not just for tripping.

i mean it is way better for tripping if you do it regularly because then it is not about control at all - it is who you are.

it's always best if you can fall back on your natural habits.

I was convinced that breathing is a skill that I need to work on since 15 years ago. Somehow, I have failed to fix it. Once i take my mind off it, I'll fall back into short breaths.

it's a skill for babies,
it does not require "deep" breaths,
just continuity and connection for your mind

Deep...

In fact, it felt like things intensify in between breaths.

I believe this is true. When I'm trying to go deep and may have not taken a high enough dose I can start to see visions by holding my breath. Then when I breath I transition back to normal reality. I think is the total silence of not breathing vs any lack of oxygen or CO2 buildup.

This is taking very long slow breaths and just stopping for several seconds between breaths. Not holding my breath till I'm in distress.

Happens to me too! It feels like I get closer to ego death when I hold my breath.

I understand that that isn't the true path though...

the one true path is a romanticization of what we are doing here.

mix some Arthurian legend with Star Wars and Dune and there are all sorts of one true paths, celestial meaning, and astrological destiny.

I do not recommend that scale of taking oneself so seriously even if you are Napoleon.

This weekend I'm going to go on a little trip across something and I'm going to paint using oil paints for the first time. Since I can't post a new thread I'll do it later. But would I would like to get the community involved in posting art we've done while tripping.

I'm going to set up the canvass and accessories up before I dose. And we,LL see what I make. Hell or high water what comes out comes out and I'll post it.

I like those concepts of breathing, scuba diving, and meat sack. Maybe we can have a theme and see the cryptomnesia unfold.

Sorry, my use of the term "path" was lazy. Specifically, what I meant that it is unlikely that you are going to be able to let go of your ego (even that I presume is an act of volition) if you are focussing on an action such as holding your breath. You use of your frontal lobe in this way is contradictory/counter-productive to the efforts being made by the psilocybin to "turn the volume down" from your frontal lobe as it were.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12763007/

I hope that makes sense. Again, this is the perspective of a shroom-noob.

The act of holding your breathe goes against your natural state of being. Breathing does not. We are talking about difficult moments during the trip.  I'm not sure what you mean actually.

I would only do breath holding as training for scuba diving.
breathing naturally is way better.

I've never had this kind of thing happen.  Breathing is always just breathing and requires no thought to accomplish. :thataintright:

But when I was schizoid I would wake up sometime convinced that my heart had stopped beating.  Maybe the same kind of thing...

Did anyone here ever over-breathe on the come up to the point that the bronchi closed up? I had this happen on 3.5g in tea and still haven't come back to that particular batch of shrooms.
Normally my allergy symptoms are really mild and my lungs are not affected at all but this was scary. Anxiety is one thing but a hard time breathing was worrying enough for me to take a benzo. I came down and had no more problems.

The research I could do on this lead me to believe it was simply hyperventilation that caused this. I tried to take long deep breaths but my perception may have fooled me there. I also get what others described that they seemingly forget to breathe. This may simply be a problem with the perception of time.
Anyways I can confirm that breathing is weird on shrooms and I also had it on other tryptamines, don't remember having that on phens or LSD.

unless you are trained in pranayama, just breathe normally,

to trip better, follow your breath, meaning, just be aware of it, do not try to control it.

we usually forget about breathing but it is always on-going, and that is something marvelous, refreshing, and supportive to tap into while tripping or whenever.

Is it a sub conscious thing.

You have given up control by deciding to trip on mushies.

So your mind looks for something it can take control of your breath. It puts that at the fore front of you tripped out mind?
