It's not about mask, I don't wear them anyway. When I have to at work, I leave my nose uncovered and keep my mouth closed for nasal breathing. I wear boxer shorts for a face covering everywhere else.
It's more about compliance, consent and vaccines. Those who comply, are more likely to give their consent to take a vaccine. Those who do not, are judged and called ignorant for wanting personal sovereignty for themselves and their families.

So, I am responsible for others personal health choices? Being part of a community, one should better themself, if each one does this, a community gets better as a whole. If my neighbors eat like shit, is it my responsibility to tell them to eat better, or is it their choice, being sovereign beings?
And to say that people are spreading disease, implies they are infected with a disease. Telling everyone to wear mask is like saying everyone is infected with disease. Which is not true.
We have seen hundreds of thousands of test and tens of thousands of positives, what of those negative test? Are those people safe to no longer wear a mask since they are not infected and/or don't have antibodies? Or will they be considered asymptomatic until they test positive?

60,000+ people every day are newly infected at this stage in the US. It will get much worse unless something is done about it.
Guvmint: If everyone wears a mask it will significantly slow transmission rates of this disease and save lives. It is in everyone's best interests, this is scientific fact. Do it.
America: My riiiights! Me, me, me, me, I, I, I, I.... You cant make me anything because me, me, me, me, me, I, I, I, I....
Personally when it comes time and the government tells me to put a mask on in public, because the time will come here as well, I will do so. Not because I am beholden to the government or fearful for my own safety, but because I have a duty to everyone else. The reality is that I don't even know if I'm infected or not now, and I will be even less certain when it becomes more widely spread in my area. Not everything is all about me.

You're right, not everybody is infected. But since a lot of infected people show no symptoms, they can't know for sure they don't have it unless they just got a test. And a lot of test results take a few days to get back, so it's hard to say even if you just got tested that you 100% don't have it based on still interacting with other people since the test.
It's not that hard. If you're all hung up on personal freedom then decide on your own terms to wear a mask in public to do the right thing for your fellow humans; don't let it be the government requiring it of you, make the right choice on your own.

What about this shit? No one has posted about this.
President Donald Trump tweeted an image of himself wearing a face mask and indirectly called the act "patriotic" on Monday -- a clear pivot away from his earlier reluctance to wear a facial covering in public.
"We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can't socially distance," Trump tweeted on Monday -- nearly three months after the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended wearing masks in public. "There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!" he added.

Maybe be was playing on the public's general reluctance to do anything he says initially, reverse psychology. "Hmmmm, if I tell everyone to wear masks they won't do it. So I'll tell them not to."

Sure, your pants may slow its spread, but once that shit hits a fan, it's spread throughout an entire room in a short amount of time. Especially if there's not an open window nearby.

As research is done.
What about this research?
https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577
"Objective The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of cloth masks to medical masks in hospital healthcare workers (HCWs). The null hypothesis is that there is no difference between medical masks and cloth masks.
Setting 14 secondary-level/tertiary-level hospitals in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Participants 1607 hospital HCWs aged ≥18 years working full-time in selected high-risk wards.
Intervention Hospital wards were randomised to: medical masks, cloth masks or a control group (usual practice, which included mask wearing). Participants used the mask on every shift for 4 consecutive weeks.
Main outcome measure Clinical respiratory illness (CRI), influenza-like illness (ILI) and laboratory-confirmed respiratory virus infection.
Results The rates of all infection outcomes were highest in the cloth mask arm, with the rate of ILI statistically significantly higher in the cloth mask arm (relative risk (RR)=13.00, 95% CI 1.69 to 100.07) compared with the medical mask arm. Cloth masks also had significantly higher rates of ILI compared with the control arm. An analysis by mask use showed ILI (RR=6.64, 95% CI 1.45 to 28.65) and laboratory-confirmed virus (RR=1.72, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.94) were significantly higher in the cloth masks group compared with the medical masks group. Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%.
Conclusions This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated.

In summation: medical masks are better than cloth masks. I agree.
There's really no point to talking to you more about this. You can't seem to understand a very simple, very fundamental fact, despite it being pointed out to you over and over:
The masks most people are wearing, DO NOT, in fact, protect them from infection. They protect OTHER PEOPLE by limited the spread of respiratory droplets.
So person A wears a mask, person B doesn't. If person A is infected, person B is actually somewhat protected, since the spread of infectious droplets is limited. THAT'S THE POINT OF THE MASK.
Since there are so many asymptomatic people who could be infected but not know it, everyone who wears a mask is protecting other people. That's why the push for everyone to wear masks...the whole system breaks down if some people don't wear one.
IF EVERYONE WEARS A MASK, THERE WILL BE FEWER INFECTIONS. That's as simple as it gets.

What if people not afraid of infection go outside, catch it from someone who wasn't wearing a mask (when the mask would have prevented this transmission), then start shedding the virus asymptomatically, and then pass it to several people, indoors, who then die of complications due to having caught it?
Fun game, please do let's continue.

Oh no
It's finally come to town here. Obese people know other obese people that were on ventilators and even some who died. And they still don't give a fuck about lockdowns, distancing, or masks. So let em.
Some obese lady at the bar yesterday was talking about how bad her friend got fucked up. At a table with a bunch of people and no masks. This is what we're working with here.

I don't know what I expected, but it's obvious that a cohesive rebuttal or even a well-formed thought appears to continue to be beyond your abilities.

What "system"? The request to wear masks is a best effort attempt to keep more people from getting sick by reducing infection vectors.
No one expects it to be perfect, just better than pretending the virus doesn't exist and taking no precautions. The more people follow the recommendations, the better the "system" to keep people as safe as possible works.

There’s always going to be people that for whatever reason protest against condoms because they’re only 98% effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies.
They will cite all the studies & cases demonstrating their 2% ineffectiveness rather than the ones showing their 98% efficacy. It’s no small wonder why the situation is what it is today. Partly to blame - mindset & attitude.

Idk. Might be something like that. Why else wear a mask for no reason? Unless he was sick and wanted to protect those around him...
