Wrinkled Caps
    #26833514 - 07/20/20 01:42 AM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Hi guys,

First off, I have found a few similar if not equivalent posts on this subject, namely the caps of fruiting bodies looking "wrinkled" or deformed.

While in most cases the answers were "it's fine", some people suggested it could be caused by bacteria.

I would like to get some advice for my specific situation, as it is always better to be on the safe side.

In some cases the rim of the cap is brown and a little slimy looking. The stems of some fruits are also brown, which seems to correlate with cap deformation.

I would be grateful for answers on these aspects:
        -Deformed caps
        -Brown stems
        -Browning around cap rims

Thanks!

Im guessing that you are over misting
without providing enough FAE.
(as can be seen by the presence of fuzzy feet)

I believe the brown spots are most likely
due to bacteria which produces the slimey
appearance.

Also, brown spots on stem can be caused by
verticillium.

Yeah overly wet. They’re still fine though it’s just a looks thing.

Ok, thanks.

Misting can be dialled back easily, but I wonder why FAE is too low. I'm running a standard SGFC build, fanning around 6 times a day.

The box is quite high up(around 2 meters from the floor), so there might be less circulation up there.

Is it a good idea to keep the lid just slightly open, for more air exchange?
