Habitat: Found these in this July growing in a potted Tomato plant with soil, manure, and mulch.
Size: 2cm to 5cm tall, cap diameter range from 1cm to 3cm, stem with is ~5mm.
Gills: brown, coffee-with-cream color. They don't appear attached to stem, but I'm not expert, they may be notched. Below is a picture of the gills.
Cap: spherical on the small, just sprouted, mushrooms, then turning conical to convex. Carmel color that is most rich at the center of the cap, then lightens to golden color, with a sometimes darker brown around the outer edge.
Stem: smooth an equal. Light bone-like color near the cap, turning brown near the base in most cases.
Spore print: black so far as I can tell.

Thanks for the welcome, glad I discovered the shroomery.
Are there potentially lethal mushrooms that this could be mistaken for? I grew up being told never ever to touch, or eat mushrooms I see growing. I'd like to educate myself to better understand the risks.

Not really potentially lethal look-a-likes as far as I know and there are no toxic black spored mushrooms. Everything in the genus Panaeolus is edible, some psychoactive like your finds forexample.

Took a few more spore prints. Including one on black paper. Looks jet-black to me. I want to be certain this is not galerina before I consider consuming it.

Very nice pans, make sure they all have black prints if you are new to mushroom identification

The identification above looks correct, but stand by and a Trusted Identifier should post shortly confirming or disagreeing. At that point I might test a small amount to assess tolerance and potency.
