Cakes are turning blue

Hi! I'm growing mushrooms for the first time with the PF tek method and have taken the cakes out of the jars a few days ago to start the fruiting. Now most of them are turning slightly blue and I'm not sure what the reason is. I read that it might mean they are dried out, but I spray them frequently and have soaked 6 of them in water before putting them in the container (I wanted to see the differences between the dunked and not dunked ones as there are so many different opinions online), but even the dunked ones turn blue. Also not sure if it is bruising because it doesn't always seem to be the spots where I handled them and I feel like I've handled them very carefully. Could it be contamination? Hope anyone on here could have a look at the photos and tell me more! Thanks a lot!

1. they are drying out, mist the fruiting chamber 3 to 4 times a day. mist is like making gentle rain with very small particles of water.
2. cut the foil smaller
3. put the cakes closer to each other it helps the micro climate

Ah thanks a lot! Have been mainly spraying the walls of the container and not the cakes itself, so will try to make it rain a little and also cut the foil smaller and put them closer. very helpful

I saw a tek on here that helped me. Basically drill a whole in the top of the cakes just big enough for a straw. I cut the straws to about 4 inches long. Inserted the straw about 2 inches and filled with water every 2 days, while lightly misting. Cakes blew up with fruits within a week.
Of course this was after I got them a little too dry.

when you make a gentle rain you will not need to mist the walls. tiny droplets will go every where and will hydrate perlite too. good luck on grow
