Will my growkit recover?
    #26832423 - 07/19/20 12:03 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Hello so to get started off with my first time growing mushrooms I bought myself a growkit. Now to start off I probably over saturated the whole bunch and the first week or so mycelium was expanding nicely, then a period of around 2-3 weeks or so where mycelium has seemed to stop growing, atleast on the surface and there was a bunch of yellowish stuff on the sides, which according to internet couldve been due to too much water or contamination, or both.

Some time later a pin came, it stopped growing, but is changing now too, there have also been a few more pins that came over the last few days, mycelium is growing albeit slowly and the yellow is turning white again.

What boggles me is the fact that mycelium is growing still and more pins are coming rather slowly I'd say, while due to the big amount of yellow I assumed it to be contaminated.

There is no weird smell or off color patches in the box, only the yellow stuff on the side

That doesn’t look good.

Pictures of the sides with the yellow and the routine you’ve been following will help too.

I started off by misting the sides of the bag daily, untill I've been told by a friend to stop watering due to the huge amount of moisture in the bag, after a few days I saw the side of the bag getting dry and decided to play around with misting daily, or bi daily.

I later decided to mist when the top layer seemed dry, no visible moisture on top.

I opened the bag at least once a day, sometimes some more. But no more than 3 times.

Next time for sure I'll maintain a report of variables and routine. So excuse my erratic scheme.

Its alot, but it faded over the course of a few days now. I'll report if it gets worse or less

So I just looked and it seems there have formed what seem like actual baby mushrooms, seems like two of them.

Bad things is there was a small fly like creature which managed to get in the bag.

This growkit a beast so far, I'll keep anyone interested updated I guess untill I throw the kit.
