Cubes - early cap opening?

Hello fellows, This is my first grow. I used a monotub (standard stuff-coco/verm/gypsum). I have some nice pinning after 2 weeks of colonization and 10 days of fruiting. I have not been misting or fanning during colonization. After seeing the first pin I started do fan one or twice a day but no misting (I saw droplets on the myc everywhere. I think this is a sign of enough water, am I wrong here?) Anyways as you can see in the pics there are some pins already opening up? Is this normal for cubes? What shall I do now? Just let grow, mist more, fan less? I have no idea... I'm very thankful for any thoughts and explanations/links.

You don't fan monotubs And it was too wet from the start. That's why they're all small.

Thanks bod, love you tek btw. Definitely will work on that on my second grow. So I shall just let them grow? And when to harvest? For the second flush is there anything I should adjust?

Let em grow. Pick the entire tub up so you get an idea of the weight of it and can use that as experience for future grows.
Second flush will probably do better

Increase FAE can help dry em out. But ya, to wet without steady fae.

Please teach Master Bod. What does tell us that this was too wet? Size of droplets on surface or other signs? This looks like my recent tub but my fruits turned out well. Maybe less condensation on walls. But surface looks more or less same. I'm still learning to dial humidity in my unmodded Bod's tubs.

That stunted look to the fruits is the clue that the substrate was overcapacity. Takes a bit of time to learn how to get it perfect which is why most bulk substrate prep methods err towards the dry side of things.

Thanks for all your input. I learned alot. I think that i may found the cause of the wetness and bad FAE - please confirm or correct me for anyone that finds this post in the future.
Firstly my mono was not filled up high enough. I planed for 4 inches of substrate (white line on the pic) and drilled holes slightly above. But i only had 2 grain jars in the end so i cut back and only used half a brick of coir... Thats why they are so far from the holes.

Another thing i suspect ist he verm i used. Its very fine (had to order online...) As you can see on the right, i have since got bigger ones (left).

Here are some more Pics, i notice many of the Boys have skirts. I researched in the forums and many suggest its a lack of FAE. Also Sidepins which might be caused by the bad surfaceconditons but im unclear on that. I saw BODs mono tek and it doesnt use a liner so i tried too

I don't use verm anymore. There is no benefit to it. Everyone seems to have moved to pure coir. People still read old instructions.

I like verm. It makes for a great texture and holds lots of water. I would use just verm over just coir if coir wasn’t so cheap.

I keep 20qt tubs for experimentation. I have several lb of verm I don't use anymore so when I get a good isolate I will make two of each pure verm and pure coir to compare growth and yield. Coir is supposed to have more digestible nutrients and verm is supposed to be rich in minerals. Bodhi made some experiments before proving added verm gives nothing but it wasn't pure vs pure so results will be interesting.
Message is coming your way regarding RWs.

I don’t have any extra prints so save your pm. As for verm I like it. Pure coir subs tend to compact easier IME. I’m going to continue to use it myself, it’s not that much more costly and it’s easy af to add to a bucket.

I would never ask anyone for prints. I have most varieties in my collection already. Just a question regarding mutated blobs and how to avoid them. I will try to find a proper thread to post this question then.

I will try no verm in the future tubs. Here is a little followup, i did harvest most of them, got about 450g wet over a couple of days/harvests. I popped open the lid for some days to and as you can see in the last pics, the cubes got bigger and lost their skirts. There are still about 10 cubes left in there, which i will pick with all the aborted pins. How should i followup for the second flush, leave it a few days then soak or skip the soaking completely?
