Morning all Interesting hunting this week, more opportunistic foraging really. Anyway, I have found several different psilocybes, I think, in the last few months in this same location, but all are slightly different locations through out. Bark garden, planted hedge type garden, etc. But the actual location is very public and often crowded. Other ID Requests to come. Thanks
Habitat: this was found growing out from between a concrete edge of netball court and sandy partly barked garden. Not much bark, and lots of sand, see photos of gills, with recent rain seems lots of sand has splashed into gills.
Gills: yellow/brown Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
Stem: 60-70mm, <10mm thick, grey, white, but blueing was what I first noticed when I found them, you see the blue from a couple of meters away
Cap: 50mm, gold, caramel, brown, dark edges. Convex, dry and split, rubbery? Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: done over about 18 hours on foil, very much a dark brown purple. Very important!
Bruising: these were blueing in the ground, and have continued to do so
Other information: I have found p. Subsecotoides, and others, see other ids, within about 20m, but all in different gardens. A very strong portobello type smell when opening paper bag at home.

Thanks

Psilocybe subaeruginosa. Make sure they all bruise blue.

Thanks everyone
I figured they must be, but I’m not at the point of being able to say 100% that mushrooms found in 3 different places are the same type and don’t want to get complacent with IDing.
My largest single find to date, and figured there could be a lot of trouble if I’m wrong.
Cheers

Good find woodsman. I have a question about the bluing. I think I am only picking mature subs because I am looking hard for the bluing and rejecting anything without. I think as the mushroom gets older and more mature it gets damage on the cap and stem which makes the bluing more obvious.
If this is all correct then how do I tell the difference between actives and non actives when they are not mature? Pick lots of shrooms and look for bluing afterwards? I am leaving lots of shrooms behind that have white stem, gold cap, brown gills because I can't see the bluing.
Keen for any input. I want to be cautious with this stuff.

With experience you should get a feel for whats what and whats not. You know you can collect any mushrooms that you think are active, if they don't show any bruising after being harvested, then toss em.

They are a Psilocybe species, but I'm not certain that they are subaeruginosa due to there condition. Next time take pictures before you pick them.
