Why are my cakes doing this?
    #2683060 - 05/15/04 06:43 PM (13 years, 16 days ago)

Here's a pic of one of my cakes. I've had them in the terr. for 9 days at high humidity. Why does the mycellum look as if it is going to grow off the cake. They have had about 3 days of 12 hour light cycles. No pinning except for the 1 pin on the cake in the background. Why do I not seeing alot more pinning?

It's fine. Put some moist verm on top of it.

once the mycellum growth has covered the entire jar, the cakes have a tendoncy to shrink a little bit. With a quick bump to the hand, the cake slides out every single time. You have to use a tapered jar, not a mason jar.

What exactly does putting wet vermiculite on top of a cake do? Concept???

I'm not sure if i'm just out of touch anymore, but I think that type of growth is due to high humidity, I think you need air exchange to start pinning.

why 12 hour light cycles????? they only need a few minutes of indirect light a day.....

moist verm will give the shrooms water to draw from....can produce more and bigger shrooms.
