Probiotic and honey

Posing here as it's the most viewed forum, more or less

Been taking some probiotics recently among other things to self heal some issues and felt an improvement, however ... i knew honey was described as an antibiotic so when recently researching both these i learned that antibiotics you get prescribed should be avoided or taken at a much later time in the day than your probiotic to avoid cancelling one or the other out, and i thought honey being like a probiotic as i understood it to be at the time should be treated the same

but what i learned from a page i'll try and relocate is that honey's healing quality's, if the good raw cold filtered stuff has good digestive enzyme aids and mentioned probiotics too so not sure if its ok to eat in a short period after taking my probiotics in the morning or wait a few hours

I've been eating raw unfiltered local honey for the past 6 months. It's pretty expensive, but I think it's worth it. I add it in my daily fruit smoothie.

honey is a topical antibiotic. when it's in your body it probably does very little against bacteria. it mostly just kills bacteria by osmosis. supposedly manuka honey has some phytochemical in it that has additional bactericidal compounds but i wouldn't count on them being very potent

BTW, newer research seems to indicate that there isn't much evidence giving probiotics helps to re-establish the kind of diverse gut flora you want, even after receiving antibiotics. some research even suggests probiotics can do more harm than good in patients taking antibiotics. many still receive them anyway by prescription but the practice is definitely undergoing widespread re-evaluation
