Hi guys,
AFOAF has this little cactus. He has been online understanding what is happening and it seems the little has seeds inside that red sack.
He questions if he needs to extract and open it to get the seeds.
Is he correct ?
Here's a pic of the little one.

Cheers from grandpa maia and thanks !
p.s.: Just a little update on this, one year later

Wait for it to dry up then pick it and get seeds

Hi there and thanks for the reply.
AFOAF watched some informational videos which collected the matured fruit and went ahead. The fruit was easily detachable from the cactus. Upon opening it, AFOAF was pleased to find 8 seeds. AFOAF let the seeds dry for an hour on a piece of paper napkin and will store the seeds.
AFOAF asks if things are been done right.
AFOAF sent some pics of the seeds and fruit.

Thanks !

Exactly!!
This is how peyote and other plants would "use" animals/people to further distribute and propagate their seeds via pooped out bits-once eaten and carried away from original location And of course-then there is the psychoactive properties.... The process//logic behind the natural world always just blows my mind...
Thanks for sharin'

let them dry out for at least a day or 2 if not a week before storage out of sun and high heat but a little airflow if possible. they like to think they went through a season before sprouting. then could toss them in the fridge to store and sometimes actually helps them sprout but peyote seeds tend to be fairly easy to start. they may be sterile esp if no other peyote flowering.

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. This is a solo cactus. Last year, AFOAF had two but one died. AFOAF had previously collected pollen from the one AFOAF lost and pollinated the surviving one - this one - a couple of months ago. It seemed it worked but there's also the possibility of the existence of other Peyote cacti in the vicinity. Yet, AFOAF knows no one near having such item.
edit: Is there any possibility this species can self pollinate or produce seeds on their own ?

L. williamsii are self fertile, outside of a few populations. The low seed count indicates self pollination probably occurred, seeds are more numerous when cross pollinated.

cool thanks for clearing that up harmless, guess i misunderstood something i read many moons ago that all are unable to produce fertile seeds but just some populations and imagine it has become more diverse in last couple decades as became more abundant.
