Fitting a blower
    #26828804 - 07/17/20 11:48 AM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Heya Folks and fuckers! Hope y'all are as safe, happy and healthy as possible.
AAANYHOO I think I found a blower that might work but it seems overpowered. I've read that you can dial back the power of the blower but I just want to make sure I can hack this before I drop $75 and ruin a perfectly good HEPA that cost me a paycheck (Yeah my old job didn't pay well)

I DIGRESS

The filter is a 24"x24"x6" and provides 1.0"SP at 584CFM test
The company FP uses for their filters "Didn't have" efficiency charts for their filters so I'm kinda shit out of luck WRT that info.
Here's the blower chart.

Thanks in advance!

What size is your filter? 1”wg@584cfm doesn’t tell us much without filter dimensions.

That chart looks like it’s for a fan only, not fan&motor combo. See the dotted lines that have hp numbers under them? Those are to help you size the motor to meet your needs with this fan. Does it come with a motor or not? If so, what hp is the motor?

Whoops yeah I fixed the original post. I'm pretty sure it comes with a motor, I'm now asking what HP it is but if I'm understanding this diagram correctly, I'm looking for 0.3-0.5 horse-pressures?

So you need 400-450cfm. I still was a bit confused by that blower chart so I looked up the Lau product catalog. They do not come with a motor, and all of their DD9 and DD10 fans are overkill for your needs. All rated at over 1000cfm. You can’t choke off a blower that oversized without causing all kinds of issues. Look for something better suited to your needs.

Damn. How is it that every time I try and get on this flowhood build I need to re-learn how one works?
It does not pay to be dumb, I'll tell you what.

Okay, I found a blower but I'd like to confirm that given the only spec I have for the filter, this blower is likely underpowered. The Tjernlund M-10 seems like it gives the proper output at 1.2"SP but the FP filter will generate too much SP at 584 CFM for the blower to work.
