On my third attempt with PF Tek, finally got my jars fully colonized without contamination! These are my first pins, but is that mold on the little one on the left? If so, what should I do about it?

Hello fellow cultivators.
I'm dealing with some strange coloration on my first APE grow. Is there a chance this is typical with APEs, or am I dealing with some contamination? The tub smells great, and is just under a week old. Thoughts?

When making my tubs, I wipe the inside of the tub with alcohol, and then a little peroxide and wipe dry before putting my liner in, then put my coir and grain in. 2 small tubs I cleaned with hot soapy water, both of those tubs started showing mold. All the tubs that I sterilized the shit out of are perfect. Dont know if that's what happened to you, just sharing my experience.

My first grow, and I’m concerned about the metabolites shown that seem to be changing color, and also growth that resembles cotton above the mycelium.
Is this normal (when metabolites appear) to change from the honey color on the left side to the color on the right? Hopefully it wins the battle- Feel free to give feedback on the surface moisture while we’re here. 👍🏼 The droplets on top of the sub have been consistent, as well as on the walls of the tub. Dry rings around the bottom fae holes, tightly packed with polyfill. Top gas exchange holes are loosely packed with the same.

hello everybody i am writing with a translator because my english is shit
I have a question. now and then from the 3rd flush individual heads look nibbled. always from the 3rd flush but only occasionally .. about 5 protents. There is no mold or contamination to be seen. now and then I think it is too damp in the box? something is breaking my heads. if I let it get slimy somehow.
does anyone know?
and yes ... I harvest a bit too late now and then so it looks so black: D
greetings and nice weekend

Your fruiting environment is just overly dry at this point and the caps are tearing hard. Not going to hurt anything, but I would dunk them overnight and make sure you try to keep humidity above 80% in your fruiting setup.

If the buildup is heavy, just roll up a piece of paper towel like a straw and dip it into the puddle to soak some of it up. Otherwise healthy looking.

It's just myc metabolites, but it is looking a little bruised, meaning its drying out in spots.
It's also a little overlaid. I would look into how to fix matting issues on your surface, but hopefully it pins up nice and isn't an issue.

hello and thanks for this info! yes, the cakes are almost as light as a feather when they have torn caps! that will be it. I only spray the cakes after each flush. dunking overnight is not possible. I have about 60 cakes growing all the time. just moisten a little more after each flush?

What method are you using for fruiting? If you pick up a 60-70L cheap tote from walmart you could easily soak 20 cakes that size at the same time. I do four 6L shoeboxes at the same time in a standard green 60L tote.
Just give them a gentle brush off when done and re-case. Otherwise, you could spray them more, but it won't absorb into the core of the sub, which is where you want the most moisture so it can continue to pull nutrients from the sub.
I would also recommend changing your base layer from the red rock you have in there and go with 1-2 inches of perlite if you can get it. It will greatly increase your general RH, so they don't dry out nearly as quickly.
Edit: I also take the lid off the tote for my soak and I cut off the outter edge, so it will fit snug inside the bin, so when i put my cakes in, i can just put two weights on top and it sinks them evenly under the water. Water should be room temp, not cold.

Hard to tell from the picture, but unless it's spreading rapidly, I would assume yes.

I might be, looks more dry to me, but its probably the pic.
bare.whiterabbit gave a tip before - soak up the dropplets of metabolites with a piece of papertowel. I used this advice. gonna see how it works in the near future. Im not sure what metabolites actually are and what their role is on top of the surface of mycelium, it might be protecting itself with the liquid, but it might be waste generated or both. dunno. didnt use the search engine

Yellow, grainy looking stuff, this likely Aspergillus?
Obviously the jar's toast regardless, will be PC'd and tossed.

looking good man. Keeping them on coir is a nice idea imo. remember when I was doing BRF cakes and used only perlite to retain RH in SGFC. Personaly I recommend making a couple of shoeboxes if you have some more cakes coming, it is easier and requires less attention. and its sort of mini bulk version.

hello and thanks for your tips and ideas. i have been growing shrooms for 7 years and have never dunk overnight. maybee a big mistake in questions of quantity! I'm a bit lazy and I've always done it this way. just spraying. is there a tutorial for this dunking here? just put cold water in a box and put the cakes in after complaining and weigh them down after 24 hours in the aluminum dish? does the whole thing work without new coco and vermi?
how i fruit? I sterilize about 50 per soaked rye 25 per coco 25 per vermi. then incubation. if everything is mixed up case i. bottom 50/50 vermi coco then the mycelium and layer 50/50 vermi coco again. then back to the incubator at 30 degrees celsius for 3 days. then out in my transparent boxes. after 10 days it pinned slowly at 23 degrees.
I already had pearlite instead of these red stones. I finally want to get away from it. but i think it needs some pearlite or stone. if you are lazy and harvest too late, everything is black and looks like shit. and also attracts contis I think. I tried without anything but the mold came quickly .. it needs something to absorb the moisture or? it would be so much easier if there was nothing. you could clean the boxes easily after every run. I don't trust the perlite red stones more than 2-3 runs. source of contamination. wiping all condensed water every day every day would be the solution, but I think that takes a lot of time and then the humidity is too low ??
do you have the ultimate tip how to go easy? your perlite lasts long? do you shit on it when spores have been sprayed because the crop is harvested too late?
greeting!
