How long can you store(use) a coco&verm bulk substrate? I have one ready that been standing for around 5months would be practical to use that again if its no problem. Otherwise i guess i have to do a new one.
I understand that it would be problematic when the substrate is on Hpoo but dont see the problem with the coco. Thanks.

I had it stored for 1 month without a problem, but i guess 5 months are too much. But if there`s no mold in, why not? I would do a re-pasteurization anyway.

Consider what you have to gain and what you have to lose by taking the gamble.
Potential gain:
- The time and money of buying coir/verm and prepping it. So maybe $5-10 and one day.
Potential loss:
- The old coir/verm you tried to save.
- Your spawn.
- The grain in your spawn + the prep of it.
- The supplies used to get your inoculant like agar and all the related supplies.
- Weeks, maybe months of time.
-------------------- "I thought to myself 'Boy, I'm sure glad there's nobody here to see this because this is exactly the sort of thing that gets people riled-up and they assume you're dying and that something has to be done. Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'" - Terrence McKenna

I don't know if it'd help in the future or not. I get things ready in bulk then freeze it. When it's needed let defrost and give them a wipe, good to go. I've had success doing this, even very long term. If its been stored well, give it a smell.

This right here^^^
I left Coco/verm hydrated in a bucket for about 2 week and it had begun to mold... Ymmv, but that was my experience.

At the moment it's both still good to use or extremely worthless to you

Yeah, i also wouldn`t take the risk to fuck up a big mono.
I just made a shoebox with the 1 month old coir, as i didn`t have good genetics for an experiment. It went out fine, but fresh coir is made fast.
