Transplanting colonized manure (Elephant, Cow, Water Buffalo)

Hi shroomery π
So I'm living in N. Thailand at the moment. I've been harvesting pan cyans and p cubensis from a (holy) shitpile near where some cows and Buffalo are fed.
Now, there are some elephant kept near my village. Their shit consistently yields big fat cubes and ample cyans, they must be eating spores because they fruit where they drop.
The owners walk them into the forest to sleep at night, so I took a trek (it's a natl park) to see if I could find where, I found one spot and gathered a few cloth grocery bags of droppings and took them home.
It's pretty well colonized with a few dry cyans and cubes, and one nice young cube with a slightly broken veil.
My plan is to break up the poo (it's mostly chewed up grass) and mix it with cow/Buffalo droppings as well as some bottom nubbins of cubes and cyans that I'm gonna blend with water. Then I'll keep it moist and lay a tarp over it to help colonize.
I have a few questions.
1. How deep should the substrate layer be?
2. Should I use aged cow poo? Like the grayer dry stuff or fresh patties? There are plenty of both.
3. Should I case with dry grass or just let it be?
Thanks guys! I'll post pics once I get going.

1. You can probably go as deep as you like.
2. Aged and dried poo is better. Not to mention easier to handle.
3.you can case or not. Just make sure you do this all under shaded areas. They dont like full sun and would thrive better in the shade.
How is the medical cannabis in thailand btw?

Thanks!
The medical cannabis... It's complicated.
Somehow weed is as illegal as always and they're still constantly busting people. I don't think the program has ever really started tbh. We get brick weed still, which I actually like for everyday smoke, but you can get medical grade delivered to your door with an online service if you've got the cash. Acid too, there are some crafty entrepreneurs here.

I can put the bed somewhere very shady, but I'll have to keep it moist manually as it's under an overhang.

Ahhhckk.. all these news about Cannabis are very misleading..
And oh. If youre looking to get better yields, you can make your own grain spawn and setup outdoor mushroom beds.

I'm gonna keep working with them as time goes on. Hopefully after this one I can move onto some more proper beds.
Yeah you can buy shrooms here from bars in touristy spots, or directly from farmers if you know some Thai, but I like the thrill of the hunt!
Usually they'll sell people a shake at the bars with a handful of cyans so the potency of those varies wildly.
Yeah the weed thing. Like a year or more ago they said that they would remove cannabis and kratom from the drugs list. Crickets so far...

OK, here's what I've done so far.
Pretty basic but the mycelium looks rockin. The patty with a little pin inside got moved to a little Tupperware and I'm gonna treat it like a fruiting chamber of sorts just to see what happens.

OK, the bed I made has noticible mycellial growth recolonizing the shredded elephant poo.
I also put a cake that was already pinning in a small Tupperware on a bed of shredded colonized poo. It looks like the big pin that originally caught my eye is gonna abort, but new little ones are already forming. The bed of poo already has strong ropy mycelium recolonizing.
I used 3 medium sized garden pots for the rest of the poo that I collected. This poo was already pinning so instead of shredding it I placed it into a mixture of potting soil and shredded elephant poo. I covered the pots, already today I've got several pins and little fruits. I think theydve yielded more if I shredded and waited, but I wanted to let them fruit naturally.

Also, I don't want to make a new thread but I have one more question.
The pit of shredded poo and mycelium is doing incredible, huge patches of mycelium taking over.
The pots of patties that I'm fruiting are making tiny little baby fruits, prolly cause I ripped them off of the moist ground. I'm wondering if I should just shred them and make another pit after seeing how well the first one is doing.
Any thoughts? Thanks guys!
