No liquid passing through syringe filters

Trying new LC lids for first time with 22nm syringe filters. I tried pulling water and LC from 3 different jars with 2 different syringes. I can't get any liquid to pass through, either pulling or pushing. Syringes work fine, air passes through filters, so...WTF am I doing wrong?

If I'm not mistaken those filters are meant for GE. Liquids should be passed through the SHIP.

Maybe they're clogged with myc. You're not supposed to aspirate lc through those filters.
Those are to filter solutions, people use them on lc jars as GE filters because they dont allow liquid through except when forced but there's no way myc will pass through one
I see a ship on your lid. Why did you add a ship if your intention was to try to aspirate through the filter?

This is my first time using them after watching a video how to make them a couple months ago. I thought I remember the process was to suck out the LC through the syringe filter, and the SHIP was just for inoculating. So the filter is only for GE...huh. Damn I feel stupid now LOL.
Edit: What's the point of the luer lock on the filter then?

Nah the filter is for ge and the ship is for aspiration.
Seeing as you used the ship for inoculation I assume the lc is from spore? You should use agar to noc up lc and you should lift the lid to drop the wedge in.
Technically pulling from a ship is outdated anyway. Ships get messed up over multiple uses and contams can get pushed into the lc.

Because syringe filters are great for filtering some solutions. We use them a lot at work to filter certain buffers, solutions, or samples before particular analyses/assays at work. But, as you saw, they can get clogged up very easily.
Normally you don't use them to aspirate solutions. Instead, you pull the plunger out and load the solution in the syringe and then push it through the filter.

I nocced LC from agar with a syringe, but I ended up lifting the lid to drop in the myc anyway, not through the ship.
So how do you pull your LC out into a syringe without tilting and spilling it? The whole point of switching to these lids was to avoid that. I thought I was being so clever. I used to pour my LC but I'd always over pour.

As I said, theyre used to filter solutions. Why would you want to filter out the myc from your LC?
For LC jars they are used as ge filters

Oh...I thought the lock meant I pull it from there.

You have to tilt, but since you used a syringe filter which is pretty much water proof you can stick your needle in the ship and tilt til it hits liquid without worrying about your filter getting wet.
Alternatively you can just free pour your LC just like g2g

OK, that clears up all my ignorance, thank you so much. I wanted to get away from free pouring bc I thought being precise with syringes would make my LC go farther. I always over poured.
BTW, congrats on your new TC badge!
