NEW HUNTER HERE AND WOULD LIKE ASSISTANCE IDENTIFYING THIS STRAIN THAT GREW IN MY PLANTER
    #26827407 - 07/16/20 04:58 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
This mushroom grew out of my planter from a peat pot. This is in Southern California, San Diego County. The soil medium of the planter is FoxFarms Ocean Forest potting soil.this soil consists of bat guano, earth work castings, fish emulsion, crab meal, shrimp meal, peat moss. It is currently July, with humidity.

Gills:
Color, brownish, attached I believe, gills are attached I believe

Stem:
Length is about 1.5cm diameter is about 2-4mm, color whitish/brwn, texture is smooth, hollow, thin

Cap:
Diameter is about the size of dimes and nickles, color is brown dark when young and lighter when older with a dark brown ring a the end of the cap, texture is smooth and not wet. The cap start out conical or dome shaped and flatten some when larger.

Spore print color:is black

Bruising:
Not really any color change on bruising, can see moisture from stem when smashed or bruised

Other information:
Not really any scent when picked, earthy is guess. It developed a fishy smell when I took a spore print.

The pics are in my gallery and is only of that strain. Still trying to figure out how to add the pics

Help, new to mycology and would like identification assistance

Thank you, not looking for actives right now just want to know the kingdom and their cousins in my area. I grew up growing plants because of my grandparents and now have a huge interest in mycology.

I do eventually want to move to the happy cultivation, but my growing thus far was preprared oyster mushroom blocks ready to fruit.

Could Be Cincts, I Was Thinking Foenisecii Since The Gills Are So Light.

I Would Think, If The Spores Were Jet Black, You Would See Black Deposits On The Caps Of The Smaller Specimens.

When they are sporulating at peak capacity the gills will turn black and you will see deposits on the smaller mushrooms and stipes. The spores are very very black, looks like ink from a printer cartridge

Why do people keep thinking panaeolus foenisecii will grow from a substrate that isn't grass...

I'm Aware That Pan. Foenisecii Is Found Growing On Grass, I'm Just Open Minded To Species Doing New Things.

Sometimes Certain Sp Do What They Want To & Sometimes It Doesn't Always Correlate With What We Previously Understood.

My Mistake On The ID, My Apologies

Nah no need to apologize my man I'm just genuinely curious if there's some information I'm missing, I'm no expert on the Panaeolus genus

Try Putting A Black Sharpie Mark Next To The Print & Re-Upload, It Looks Dark Brown To Me.
