Contam or Metabolites? (BRF Jar)

Hello friends,
Been reading these blessed forums for a good while but this is my first post. I've inoculated a few duly sterilized BRF jars and, though some have clearly fallen to trich, others have thrived. However, this one in particular has eluded me: is this brownish spot some type of bacterial contam, or just metabolites exuded from the mycelium? I'd say the jar is at >95% colonization outside of this blotch. I live in FL and keep my house between 75 and 78 degrees. This mix of BRF was done using the "hippie tek", with some bee pollen and ground coconut added for substrate nutrients.
What do you think?

PS: thanks for all you do and for sharing so much info here. I aim to farm medicinal mushrooms in Brazil (in a small farm in Rio de Janeiro state built by my grandpa), and use different types of local species for mycoremediation and water filtration. I am especially interested int he Permaculture with a Mycological twist as purported by Stamets, and have been reading his books extensively. I also want to create extracts of medicinal mushrooms and commercialize them in Brazil, basically bringing Host Defense knowledge to that part of the world while also diving deep in the existing mycological and permaculture community of that area. If you know anybody who's doing this kind of thing down there, holla!

Might be bacterial, but i'd go ahead and try to birth it and give it a good sniff, see if you can learn anything by smell. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that lol.

That's what I'm planning on doing... gonna wait a few days though.
Although remembering this post kinda makes me skeptical of trying that strategy

Also worth remembering is that 18 year old posts probably won't provide you with the latest information and up do date effective methods of cultivation. I wonder where you got the idea to add ground coconut and bee pollen to the BRF mix, You'll have more shrooms if you follow proven to work Tek's instead of altering effective methods rendering then less effective. What helped me learn quickly was to focus on reading the new threads and the new posts in the older established threads where the risk of running into misinformation is immensely lower. Anything older than a a few years and the risks for misinfo increases by alot. The older threads the riskier. Gl

Great tips, Mateah, thank you. I had read those warnings previously, in several places, and from now on will definitely try to follow everything to a T and get super comfortable before trying "variations." My next projects are monotubs and i'm going straight to making Pasty Plates followed by Bod's simplified tub TEKs. Let me know if any of those are too outdated
