Monotub pinning in just 1 spot

Hey everyone. This monotub has been in fruiting conditions since June 27 (18days) and has just started pinning. It’s B+ on hpoo. This is my first monotub. So, as you can see it’s just pinning in one spot. Can someone tell me why this might be? Will it fruit all over eventually? Thanks for your help.

Looks matted and dead, like it was allowed to get too dry, then heavily misted. Repeatedly doing that will eventually kill the pinning surface. I would let those fruits grow out and if you dint see anymore pins coming in behind, I would flip the sub.

I think you’re right Pastywhyte. It’s not nice and fuzzy on the surface. I’m not sure how this could have happened though. I haven’t been misting it but there has been a lot of evaporation with water condensing on the lid then falling back down and collecting on the surface of the sub. Could my poly be too loose or too much fan in the room? Or too much temp fluctuations? Thanks for the input.

I never run a fan and it sounds like all of those things you mentioned may be contributing to the issue. Try micropore tape instead of poly, in my dry climate I find it difficult to get the poly tight enough.

Poly is also just a pain in the ass in general. I frequently had a hole stuffed tight just to come home to it popped out or come loose.
With the mp tape you don't have to check your shit constantly and that's more than enough reason to switch in my opinion.
The only real con to tape is that it's pretty much 1 use only because it gets ruined after washing out the tubs and the 2" roll is almost 10 bucks where I live.

Use a liner and avoid spore drops and you won’t need to scrub the tubs much. I used to leave the tape on unless there was a major spore dump or contam. Only reason I use a liner is cause I hate scrubbing tubs.

I left my chick to watch over my tubs this last cycle and every tub was purple when I came home
I still spray out tubs regardless of how bad it is, though.
After spraying out I wipe every tub down in diluted bleach solution and retape holes. May not be necessary but the peace of mind is what I'm after haha.

I've been loving poly for nearly the last decade, but I think it's time to switch it up and try out the MP tape for some of the reasons mentioned in this thread. I've seen your EZ Monos like a jillion times and am finally going to give it a try. Literally just ordered some rolls. I dunno why it took so long, but I'm ready to get on board. So thank you!
And to reply to the OP, it def looked like it was dried and misted heavily repeatedly. I've had several of those back in my early days - literally from doing too much when I had no business doing anything.

Looks like it might be bacterial as well, or maybe stressed from heat. Are those metabolite puddles in the top right? 2nd pic

Ok I’ve switched my poly out for mp tape as per your tek Pasty. Thanks for the heads up! I wasn’t misting it at all but there was a ton of evaporation happening and the water would condense on the lid and fall back down and pool on top of the sub. I had windows open instead of a fan and maybe the temperature fluctuations were causing all the evaporation? One question Pasty, if you don’t mind: how do I know if I’m not getting enough FAE? I understand that too much FAE will cause the sub to dry out but what will not enough do? Just delay pinning? I’m on the coast so it’s quite humid here, unlike your environment Pasty. Thanks for your help! There were some little pools of metabolite (not sure what that means) but it’s mainly water pooling in there.

Looks like you were right Roger. Trichoderma started Showing up in this tub a few days ago. I thought it may just be in the one corner so I tried removing just that section. Then I flipped the whole sub over as per Pasty’s suggestion but a big area of the bottom of the sub was contaminated too. I’m not sure how I caused this but I’d really like to figure it out so I can avoid making the same mistake on future monotubs. Could the sub just have been too wet or something? Any help is appreciated!

MP tape all the way and I thought flipping it was a great idea. I wouldn’t of thought to do that.
I’ve read scratching can help but flip it. I don’t think that tub will produce much but it’s worth a try
Man, I found an 8in San Pedro cactus at Home Depot. I’ve been looking for years and finally found one.
I’m gonna renew my supporter account and show you. I also have the prettiest PE sub (coco coir w bird seed) ready to explode. Shoebox, misted first time yesterday at exactly 2 weeks. The tub looks like it’s readying
Sorry to thread jack I’m so excite
