Echinopsis Pachanoi Cactus ID request

Hi all, so I'm trying to add a bit of diversity to my bag of medicinal tricks and bought some San Pedros. As always I start to get a bit of buyers remorse. I would like to get some opinions based on this photo, I know it's not that detailed. Worth my time to cut up and eat? Even if not I like plants so no great loss.

I recommend transplanting first. Let it establish itself and show new growth (probably about 2 weeks to a month) then you can propagate it. Cut at a 45 degree angle and leave at least 2 inches of green cactus flesh with spines. It will scab and create new cactus pups about a month later. It would be sad to kill the plant needlessly. There's no hurry!

Thanks for the tips, I was going to keep it around as a permanent member of the family. I just didn't want to harm it needlessly. If it had none of the magic sauce I'd just grow it for fun. On a side note Bad Religion is one of my favorite bands.

It's pretty clearly a T. Pachanoi - but like I said, you can have the cake and eat it, too. Just be patient. They grow like a weed. Propagate it so you can have more in the future.
I was a big Bad Religion fan in high school. I still like them, but not the same level of fandom as before.

Yeah, once my rage burned out my fandom dropped off to. Thanks for the assist, I got a great place to put it next to a sliding glass door.

Either way it's ok. My plan evolved yesterday. I got a "not pc" from a reputable vendor yesterday I'm going to root it. The questionable one I originally asked about I'm going to use as root stock to graft other cacti to.

The PC clone is still active, and a fast grower.
It's just not as potent as other Trichos. You might need a few inches more, but that's it. Some members here have had strong trips from like two feet of PC.
All I'm saying is that the PC clone is not worthless. Sure it's a good grafting stock, but it's also active and can be consumed.

AAhhh "just a few inches more..." there's a couple jokes there. Thank you for the info! I plan on keeping one of the stalks unharmed until sometime in the future. I got out of plants but I'm cycling back into plants. I likely won't start experimenting with consumption until I get a few clones going.

Got all my cacti and got them planted, the two big guys had some root growth, the skinny guys need to get some roots going. I mixed my own cactus mix up, hopefully they like it.
