A thin veneer. * 2

The first week of September marks the visible nearing of the clock striking 12 for the United States of America at their current trajectory.

After a full corporate bailout, and the implementation of corporate socialism at the beginning of the crisis, after 5 trillion poured into corporate pockets, and crumbs for the people, the facade that embellishes US leadership has clear cracks.

The setup is this; 32% of US households missed their full housing payments for July.

Quote:

As the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic continues, almost one-third of U.S. households, 32%, have not made their full housing payments for July yet, according to a survey by Apartment List, an online rental platform.

About 19% of Americans made no housing payment at all during the first week of the month, and 13% paid only a portion of their rent or mortgage.

The one time $1200 stimulus checks from April have run out, and the second stimulus check proposed has a catch that would mean far less people receive it.

First off, the income threshold is lowered to an income of $40,000, already leaving millions of US citizens out in the cold, along with the fact that 40% of households with incomes below $40,000 have lost their jobs.

Quote:

Though a $40,000 cap would leave millions of Americans out in the cold, it would target a segment of the population that's been hard hit by the crisis.

In March, 40% of households making less than $40,000 lost their jobs, according to data from the Federal Reserve.

At the moment a lot of people are relying on a $600 per week unemployment benefit set to end this month.

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/25/politics/senate-stimulus-unemployment-benefits-coronavirus/index.html

There's a moratorium on foreclosure for the moment that ends August 31st, and Steve Mnuchin has indicated it won't be extended.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/advisor/2020/06/18/home-foreclosures-and-evictions-banned-through-summer/amp/

This trail of events, with unemployment looming 20%, upward of 32% unable to pay household costs, a growing pandemic, support lines closing and foreclosures imminent, this could turn into civil unrest not yet before seen in the history of the country.

The country may be opening up, and jobs are being returned, but they're being thrown into a burning fire.

Their god has no mercy for their souls, but the Sun will keep them warm. :sun:

I completely agree with you. This a point I failed to mention earlier. There is so much going on at the same time. We have a lot of reason to believe larger powers that be are cultivating and orchestrating the collapse of America through a combination of psychological, economical and biological warfare.

As I posted in PS&P a few weeks ago, I feel we are at the point at which future historians will mark the end of American unipolar dominance in world history. The vaunted "end of empire." The situation was dire enough for the 99% before the pandemic, and now things are starting to careen a bit. Interesting time to be alive if you're not in desperation.

Most historians and scholars I know agree we're about to enter "The 4th Turning," if we have not yet already.

"...the theory that history is cyclical, repeating after four 'turns,' each lasting 20-25 years. The first turn is the high, a period of relief after a crisis has ended. The second turning is an awakening, when people start to get back to reality after the high. The third turning is an unraveling, in which people are unhappy with the way things were in the previous two turnings and are now becoming pessimistic about the future. Finally, the fourth turning is a crisis; some unexpected major event that will involve everyone and completely change the way people think from before the crisis occurred to after it ends. Then the cycle begins again with a new high."

"May you live in interesting times" , the fake Chinese curse, does apply here. Definitely been feeling the propaganda and pacification of the American populace. Fiscal sanity must be restored for the USA to stay near the top....Capital Hill no where near that shit.

America will no longer be insulated (the paramount trick of the politician) from worldly affairs(like wars, loss of reserve status, etc.) any longer....we have been in Afganistan for 19 years, primarily for economic reasons....that pony is dead; looks like we need to start another war.

To invade a 9th country?

Looks like the civil variety isn't implausible, but its hard to say anything after that. Maybe riots that make the Floyd riots look meager in comparison would do? Or at least be close enough.

Because if say 50% of households can't pay rent, and foreclosures occur.

What are people going to do? Stand in the streets and starve? Thank their lucky charms?

What else can they do with the kind of support that's akin to being lifted up via knives in the back. Or in this case from the front..
